I picked my 14 up used from a dealer. It has a yoshi pipe and when I serviced it I found a k&n air filter also. Is there any way to find out if the ecu has been flashed? The dealer wouldnt give me the previous owners info so I could call him. I am thinking not since the on off throttle response is a little rough but this is the only tenere i have ridden.

Hmm, interesting question. Anthony ("avc8130" here) is a resident expert and would know if there's any secret way to find out. As far as I know on my Gen 1 bike, the only way I can tell it was flashed is that the bike runs noticeably better than before. The good news is that an ECU can be flashed more than once. So if you're not delighted with how it runs, you can certainly get it flashed to your liking. Anthony does great work.

221 so it must not be flashed.
That's not conclusive evidence. The fan trigger point would only be different if the guy who flashed it decided to change it. I think Anthony did tend to change the trigger point so he had a way of knowing he had flashed the ECU. There is no way to know other than comparative behavior differences. (Well, you could cut holes in the ECU, connect to the AUD port, and read the ROM contents, but that is not a simple operation!)

Most who decide to flash the ecu, they are bothered by the engine brake. You say you have a yoshi, but check whether or not you have the cat (hitting its housing). If you have cat, find another S10 that is not flashed, compare the engine brake at par (obviously with the same load). It’s also inconclusive, but it can give you an idea. Another way is a one-mile Drag Race with a 1290 or 1260, if at the end of the mile, no more than one body moved away, “DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING”, send me a private message and I buy you the ecu:):):)

I heard that when AF1 does a reflash they lock the ECU so only they can do another reflash on it. Does anyone know if this is true. I had mine done with AF1 before avc8130 started doing them. I am happy with the AF1 flash, but I'm curious if I could get it reflashed by someone else.

You can ask the dealer to ask the previous owner about that. That way privacy is maintained and you get your answer - if the dealer is willing to help. I got a lot of informaiton that way when I bought my used Tenere.
