Any ST owners in VA - swap a ride? MISSION COMPLETE, BOUGHT ONE!

I'm interested in trading a short ride on my 98 R1100RS for a short ride on a super. I'm over 50, MSF instructor for 9 years, been riding forever...blah blah. Really, I'm a responsible person! I'm on the edge of buying a new one, but being overly conservative want to at least ride one for 10 miles or so.

Willing to travel anywhere on a weekend and I'm often in the Lexington, VA and Lynchburg, VA areas on weekends. Live in Hampton, VA.

Bump to the top, anyone in VA who might be willing to swap a ride on my '98 R1100RS for ten miles or so, I can travel to your location. Being overly conservative, hard to commit to a brand new bike having on sat on one.

I did get a nice ride in - fellow in Portsmouth let me take his out. I'm sold, just can't decide if I should buy a new one and be done with it or keep looking for a used one to save a few dollars. Used one's are starting to pop up and I'm eyeing one in the Raleigh area now.

But thanks! I may end up buying from Blalock also based on your feedback.

I think there has been about 1 a month or so pop up on here. Usually outstanding deals for fully farkled machines. I would watch all the sites for awhile, even if it's not local figure in the cost of a one way plane ticket. I would wait a bit.

I'm not in a rush, especially given the heat lately! I haven't ridden my bike in 10 days and doing a service and front tire yesterday was brutal!!

Fly and rides are great, I've done 3 over the last 6 years or so, even taking the wife along on one. So I'm watching and waiting. Prices for used so far are so close to new I may take advantage of my credit unions super low interest rate, leave my money earning more in the market, and go with new. Pretty tempting for the 1 to 2K difference in price. Romney's has 8 or 9 in stock right now - his rock bottom prices won't go away.

Having now ridden one, I know I'm getting one!

TEAM POWERSPORTS in Raleigh has one with 800miles (a demo) they were willing to part with (1st service included) for $12500 ...but I didn't know that until after I had already put down $$$ on the one in Warrenton. Scott and Chris were the guys I was dealing with there. Only reason I didn't get it there was they didn't get back with me with anything b netter than $13150 until it was already too late. Nevertheless, They would have still only save me about 200 bucks. But that's not to say they may not go even lower....who knows

Picked up the bike yesterday... wow, what an awesome machine! 300 mile day after picking it up just after lunch and riding out to Luray and back home.
Givi boxes adorned the porch today when I got home, Crash bars are on the way, GPS mounted, GoCruise mounted, looking for lights and a skid plate now!

Picked up the bike yesterday... wow, what an awesome machine! 300 mile day after picking it up just after lunch and riding out to Luray and back home.

I'm hoping the blue one in Raleigh will agree on a price. But he's not in a rush. I'll probably run up to Romney's and get a new one next month if nothing else comes along used. Romney's got a bunch in stock and the price is great. I'm curious what Givi's you decided on - I really liked the ones I had on my VStrom.

I would give Rick a call, (540) 347-4591, before I made the trip up to Romney ( I told him you were looking for one). He has Blue IN STOCK! I tell ya, the guy is super nice, and he runs a small business, with that individual attention you rarely find at big box companies. Not taking anything from Romney, I have heard nothing but great things from those folks.
I ended up with the Givi Trekker set. It wasn't my first choice (I couldn't see spending the $2400 on a set of Zega), but I think I will be happy with my purchase. I had Givi for 12 years on my Blackbird, and never had a problem! I will mount them as soon as I can. I have been down and out for the last few days with the flu. It has had its way with everyone here at my house. Wife and I were so bad yesterday, the in-laws came and got the kids. Feeling like we may even try and eat today for the first time in over 36 hours.

Sounds like you guys had a great day (new bike and a good ride, hard combo to beat)!! I'm going to Warrenton for the weekend the end of July and plan to stop by there, I'll talk to Rick. I'm still eyeing the blue one in NC too.

No, looking at a used one. Since two VA dealers have great prices new, I'm not in a rush. Glad I was able to ride on, sold me on definitely getting one soon.

Status update - local person kindly let me ride his bike, since then worked out a deal and flew to NY city today and rode home a Black S10 getting home about 7pm. Heck of a day!
