The "11,000 miles in 11 days" Iron Butt Rally starts at 10:00 AM PDT Monday in ABQ. There are lots of FJRs entered -- and excellent information available at http://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/163827-official-2015-iron-butt-rally-trackinganalysis-thread/ -- but do we know of any S-10s in the fray?

There's nothing far-fetched about the idea, BTW. After riding a competitive five-day rally last summer on a DL1000 V-Strom, I concluded I would likely never enter the IBR. But after riding an SS1K (1,065 miles in just under 19 hours) on my '14 ES in May, I concluded it would be my choice for the IBR, if I were to throw sanity to the wind and enter. Comfort, reliability, excellent fuel efficiency...

Not sure about this year, but last year had 2 or 3.

And our local inmate here on the forum (EricV) is an annual participant.

I don't have that much sanity to throw away. I just did the SS1000. While it wasn't too bad, I don't ever think I could or could have ever done the IBR.

The people I've met who have done it say that tag line is incomplete and that it should be

11,000 miles in 11 days and $11,000
;)

LOL, I read where Eric offered his Tenere to a participant who's trailer carrying his Beemer had broke. Fun writer over there, great little snippets.

Agreed... Tonie Cowan is riding a '12, and Brian Dent is riding a '14.
Tonie riding out at the start. She's on the same bike that she rode so incredibly well in 2013:

Bucky at the start:

And the day before the rally after Dale 'Warchild' Wilson got to him with crazy hair paint

Ironic that baldy would be the one with the hair paint.
