Any possibility of installing a slipper clutch on this bike?

If possible, this is something I would want to explore. I have no idea what would work in terms of compatibility, so I'm throwing the question out into cyberspace.

I have a friend that works for Graves and was already informed they don't have any race parts or are working with our s10's.

that's unfortunate. Does the S10 share a clutch mechanism with any other yamaha to anyones knowledge? In that case I could get an STM slipper clutch assuming they made one for that model. They most likely only have have them for R1, R6, FZ1

The clutch boss, basket and main pressure plate are all '23P' part numbers, so that would indicate that these are ST specific.

The clutch plates however are not. The friction plates are '5JW' ('03-'05 FJR1300) and the steel plates are very old '2H7' ones ('78 - '81 XS1100) (I had one btw - the engine turned 'backwards' to eliminate a extra idler gear). The one 'special' friction plate is a 4XV which is a 1998-1998 R1.

So there ya go!......

thanks for the info steve

I guess I will just have to pray to the gods of aftermarket race parts every night to make a slipper clutch for this bike. Until then, if anyone comes across anything, please let me know. thank you

apparently there is a slipper clutch available for the 1200GS. NOT FAIR!

everyone pressure your local representatives. This would be a great upgrade for those of us who ride aggressively
