I am thinking to replace my "homemade" pannier racks to these Givi PL2119.
But I dont know are these racks symmetric or not.
(All pics I have seen are asymmetric those I dont want).
I have my left and right pannier similar size and I want symmetric racks - are these? ::)

While they're not perfectly symmetrical, they're not bad either. I got them so my Nelson Rigg Adventure bags would have something to tie off to and they work great for that. They come with a tool that you can use to take the rails off just leaving the small brackets bolted on the frame. Takes about a minute to take both sides off.

I bought the same ones for my Mosko moto soft bags. Couldn't see spending $400 on racks. Haven't mounted them yet. Got them from Revzilla.

Now thinked it once again and... ::010:: ::010:: ::010::
My top box is 47cm wide and my homemade sideracks about 50-52cm.
So if I want open side pannier (right one) rack must be almost as far as left one from center of bike.

Looks like there is 1" difference in the racks.
On a side note how do you like your Anakee 3 tires? I have been looking at them but I am hearing they are too loud on the highway.

The PL2119 racks are fixed & good value. If you want the QD version, it's a PLR2119. Neither are symentrical, but they sit reasonably tight & are strong & versatile, perfectly sufficient for road use.

Can you see the back of the bike when you are riding it?

Almost no bike is symmetrical from the factory. It's a lot harder than you think to accomplish that. And there is zero benefit to it. Load your gear, ride your bike, get it dirty, be happy.

This pic shows that it is not only visual problem. There is only 2cm (25/32inch as some converter shows?) space between right pannier and top box.
So I can not move pannier much closer to top box.
(These are symmetric racks and I think left one is same position as Givi)

I've only taken one trip with the A3"s down to the Smokey Mountains area and they did well in the curves and what wet roads I got on. I don't have enough miles on them to comment on milage, but the word on the street is they will get great miles. Now for the noise. I have a loud howl that seems to come from the front end and it was loud enough that I took the front tire off with 1200 miles on it and put on another, but the howl is still there. The weird thing is the howl comes on between 40 & 42 mph and then again between 60 & 62 mph. I can be riding along at 58 mph and there is no noise, but just as soon as the speed hits 60 the noise starts and stops right at 63. Never seen anything like it. it sounds like wind blowing across a piece of pipe. I even took off the Piaa driving lights to see if that would help. Driving me crazy. 12* outside now so I'll worry about it again in march.

Yes that is it, comes from the front tire is what I seen in a couple reports. They said it was really loud and annoying.

I have a 2016 ST - ES... and I may have the same problem with width... I have a 47 liter Givi top case installed, and I am thinking of getting the PL - 2119 racks with the new Solobox:

https://www.facebook.com/gosolobox/

... which is hinged at the front (same as many hard cases...) It looks like the top case extends about 3 inches over the side - so the right side may be too close - the solution would be to take off the top case to get the right side case open.. .but that is a hastle...I wonder if anyone can measure the distance from the right side of the bike (at the grab handle), to the edge of the side case (it doesn't matter what brand - just a hard case...). I like the new Solobox - it looks sturdy and well priced (still $340.00), so I would like to make them work...

Thanks,

I installed the PL2119 racks to mounth Givi Trekker bags on my 2017 ST. Everything bolted up fine and very secure. The left side rack is slightly further out but not much. I installed a 33 liter bag on left and 46 liters on right & trunk. At first I thought I went too big with the 46 liters but discovered they work great. I did a walk/hike today and needed to store helmet, jacket, pants (wear shorts underneath), and boots. I put everything in the two 46 liters. The 33 liter case holds tire plug kit, compressor, and extra hat. When I travel I plan to pack the side cases and leave top case empty for helmet, gloves and jacket when stopped for lunch or something.

I have the GIVI 37 Treker cases and I think it is a 47 top case; the right case rubs a little when opening.

Lots of options. I measured the left rack is 1" further outboard than the right rack due to the exhaust. However, in my situation with a 33 liter trekker on left and 46 liter (three inches larger) on right, the case is approximately two inches further out on the right versus the left.
