Yep, the old one was pig awful to manoeuvre at slow speed. Took mine through the Alps. Uphill hair pin bends were 'interesting'? Eventually got the rest of my mates to go in front so I could get a good run up, slam it into 1st and lock the rear wheel up so it slid around, then gas it, change to second while accelerating like mad until the next bend. It sucked. The rest of my mates could chug around the bends in second
i had an 07 DL 1000 for about 5 years. Great bike, but you cant really compare it to the S10. totally different engine and feel. I feel like i went from a utilitarian tractor to a full on "machine".
Mostly:
* no more buffeting
* inline twin engine feels totally different
* on the ES, the cruise control is a game changer.
I am currently running a 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 1000 set up for touring. Bought the bike 3 years ago coming off a 2009 KLR 650 to try the adventure touring thing and to see if I like it. Buying the Vstrom was a great move for me but I knew when I purchased it I would be moving to something else in the next couple of years. I have looked at BMW's, Triumphs and even the new generation Vstrom but I keep coming back too the Tenere. I test road the Tenere last week and was extremely impressed and now working with the local dealer to try and find a new or left over.......What I am curious about are opinions from guys who have previously owned the Vstrom 1000 and have moved to the S10. Pro's cons and general impression from moving over....Thanks.
Me too!!! Did the KLR think for a few years then on to a 2002 VSstrom (first year it was made). Loved both bikes, but NOTHING I've ridden has come close to how happy I am with my "new to me" 2013 Tenere! Do not hesitate to by this bike...you'll really enjoy the sh_t out of it!
In 4 years I put 48K miles on my 2006 Vee. I really loved that bike. It honestly changed my life. Took me from a guy who used pavement to get from dirt to more dirt, into a long-distance adventure rider. It was a fantastic bike and I'll always have a warm spot in my heart for that bike...which is now owned by a friend of mine.
Since leaving the Vee I've owned three different Super Teneres. The Tenere is better than the Vee across the board. I loved my Vee, but I've never missed it. The Tenere is just better...period.
