Greetings all!! Think I have made my mind up on a Tenere so I thought I'd sign up and see what I can learn. Currently have a Goldwing and a DR650. Just came back from a 5 day 7 state trip on the wing up through Yellowstone. Been up there twice now and I see all the dirt roads and sure do wonder where they go. The wing can handle some dirt but not really designed for it so that's why I'm thinking about the Tenere. Originally thought I wanted a V Strom but don't really want to mess with the chain so I thought about a GS1200 but somewhat concerned about its reliability so I landed on the Tenere.

1000 miles a day isn't much on the wing so I was wondering, for those of you who have ridden both wings and the Tenere long distances, how they compare? I know they're different type bikes but is it reasonable to do multiple long days on a Tenere or will it beat you to death? Haul road to Prudhoe Bays on my bucket list so I was hoping the Tenere would be the bike for the job.

::004:: From Nebraska , Can't comment on a wing however I also rise a Ultra. I bought my Tenere In April and am very placed , For me the Tenere ride is smoother then the Ultra however for long distance black top riding I prefer the Ultra. My longest ride thus far on the Tenere has been 500 miles and I was comfortable the whole day, there was some dirt and gravel roads on the trip so I was changing body position to meet each terrain I was riding in which I'm sure helped the comfort. I have yet to do a few days Balls Out black top run on the Tenere , that run comes in August so my opinion my be changed after the next trip....

I have ridden a GWing, but also owned a Yamaha Royal Star Venture (large overweight touring machine). I have found that I can ride as many miles on the Tenere and with the proper seat and windshield combination, I find it more comfortable than my RSV in a lot of different ways.

Greetings from Malta and welcome to the forum. The Wing and the S10 are meant for different terrain, not that you can't use one on the other's terrain. I owned a Yamaha V-Star (air-cooled) for several years and that was great on highways but a pain on mountain roads and passes. With my S10 I've gone on long trips on motorways and I've gone on mountain roads and passes. The S10 is very good on motorways, but perhaps not quite as good as the V-Star. For other roads, the S10 wins by far.

Welcome trimannn. I rode once the new gold wing. Makes me sleepy. :) The way I see it, S10 can do all the things GW does, but the GW can't do all the things S10 does. Actually it can only tour the black top like S10 and nothing more.
I may be wrong, but back here in Croatia, where even the highways are curvy, GW doesn't make much sense.
