Well, as it turns out I won't be making this ride. I would have had the privilege of having been to all three AltRider rides this year but some very serious family matters got in the way. That also explains why you just haven't seen me around lately here on the board.

AltRider has been so very special and a direct supporter of my charity awareness and fund raising efforts so my not making this ride is not easy, but necessary nonetheless.

My wife's cousin, though they grew up together so view each other as brother and sister, has terminal brain cancer. He had a necessary brain surgery this week as the incurable tumor was causing major issues which were effecting his daily living and comfort, let alone motor function, etc. Surgery was Wednesday. Initial reports were good but things have taken a turn for the worst at this point with a second emergency surgery going on as I write this.

As many of you know, I rode over 8300 miles, 28 states plus DC, in 20 days starting with a 44 hour and 58 minute ride from San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, FL in support of a near and dear charity, Friends of NICU. Through this and friends we have been supporting a family who had triplets on August 1st born at 28 weeks and sent straight to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Unfortunately, one of the siblings just couldn't fight any more and left us on August 16. With as close as we came with our own NICU experience and our commitment to others going through their NICU journey there was no way we could leave.

And then there's work and the many fires going on. I have been quite busy.

Have fun, be safe, think of me, and raise a glass if you think of it. We'll ride together another day!

Jere,y, Nancy, Erik, Brianna I will miss you all this weekend. Oh, and someone hug Erik for me. He's getting married!!!
