Just up from the shed.. my LHS cover will not come off.. no matter what I do.

I am sure that the tolerance varies during manufacture of these AR Bars.

Cannot imagine each S10 being all over the shop.

528Hz,

Like your rig tried a few other tricks, no go!!
I can see this in a shop that charges by the hour..
Those happy trail bags on the sides how low do they sit on the bike and how do you like them?
That's strange about the LH cover. I suppose if they hand make each set, then I suppose that could happen.
HT Denali bags are deep but still well away from touching the ground, even with hard leaning. Haven't measured exact distance from the ground, which I could if you need that info, but you can probably estimate in the images below, perhaps in the context of standard part locations on ST.

The copy on our website is incorrect, and will be updated shortly to provide accurate information. The right-hand side panel can be removed with the bars in place. Because the left-hand side panel only requires periodic removal, the bars were not designed to allow removal of the panel. The crash bars were designed this way on purpose to provide maximum protection while remaining as close as reasonably possible to the body. The left-hand panel can be moved out enough to allow access to the hardware holding the front of the gas tank on – allowing access to the air filter.

The left and right side of the bars are not designed to be symmetrical, so there will be differences in clearances. However, if it appears the right side is touching the fairing, and isn’t the result of a crash, please contact us at info@altrider.com and we will help you resolve the issue. We apologize for any confusion, and appreciate your patience while we resolve this issue.

So they can't be made symmetrically 3/4" to 1" wider? ::014::

Seems like some of us are going to be pulling crash bars off to fill the coolant, fix a leaky rad or hose or put on a new cap? :-*

When I fitted mine, I tightened up the RHS first. The LHS then didn't fit square to the mount, so rather than force it, the H&B wp guard spaced the front bolt, and I machined up an 8 mm spacer for a longer back bolt. This has resulted in a little more clearance and no stress on the bars.

My altrider bars have been on for almost 2 years now and never had to remove the left side cover all the way. So ::021::

There's a guy over on ADVrider who sells them for a lot less than that. A few months ago he had a sale where you got two of them shipped anywhere in the USA for $19 bucks. That's when I picked up two. Only problem is I can't find his thread right now from where I ordered them.

There is also some folks that sell 'em cheaper than that on e-Bay.

Mate.. the RHS cover cannot be removed without literally dragging it across the crash bars. The first time i did this I scratched the shit out of the silver paint on the cover. After an hour of careful cutting and polishing most of the scratches are gone. The ONLY way you can remove and refit is to (in my case) drop a towel down there to protect the side cover as it is draggged out.

We have an election coming up here on Asutralia.. post election I am hoping for a big turn around in business, and so more coin in the bank.. once this happens my AR bars will be scrapped and replaced with something with more clearance.

Sorry AR.

Great idea for mounting etc.. just not enough clearance.

Another 1/2 inch would be great.. it would allow removal etc of covers and provide more "crash space" for the bars to deflect into in a spill.

I've had both of my side covers off with the bars in place. No problem. Patience and angle adjustment are all it's taken.
