While riding n the Dolomites last week something was grounding out quite hard on the road when going round tight bends - it frightened the life out of me first time it happened - and I subsequently discovered it's the rear of the AltRider belly pan. Now I know it's there to protect the engine so it was doing its job and I realise the road was rather bumpy but I'm a bit surprised it would hit the deck while riding on the road.

There's a reasonable gap between the bottom of the engine and the belly pan so is there another option that is closer fitting? If it had captive nuts rather than ones that fall into inaccessible places when I'm trying to remove it and allowed access to the oil filter without having to remove it at all that would be even better.

If we could take it as read that I accept anyone who disagrees with what I have written thinks I am 'whining', that I didn't have the suspension set up incorrectly, that I wasn't hard on the brakes and that while we were carrying panniers and top box we weren't particularly overloaded it should make for a more concise thread. :)

Thanks

Kevin
