So I got the AR bars last month at the Long Beach bike show, and I spent all of Xmas Eve trying to get them installed with a buddy of mine. We're not newbs...many mods and years of experience between us. Despite our best efforts, there was about a 15mm gap between the right side mounting plate and the bike's mounting lug. The bars are too stiff to just force them towards the lug. We had everything loose and tried wiggling them for hours with no luck. I called AR this morning and they seemed a bit taken aback as to why that gap was there. Anyone else have this problem?

yeppers, I had the same problem on mine. I ended up spacing about 1/2 and pulling in the other half with the bolt.
Did you connect the center piece before installing? Should not make a difference, just asking...

I had some issues. I don't remember exactly what they were. The pictures in the instructions were terrible. I removed them and went in and watched the videos and they installed okay the second time.

Mine fit like a glove. I am sure Jeremy will make it right.

Mine fitted just fine. The hardest part was breaking the bolts on the engine loose. I twisted in two one of my fine China made extensions.

I did, yeah, and kept everything loose while I tried to bolt up the rest. Didn't help.

Big Plus 1 on the tight engine bolts. Also I had some gaps too but was able to bring it together just fine in the end. I have to say it would have been very hard to do by myself, I had help from my wife. I also found the online videos the real trick; I never looked at the written instructions.
One thing is for sure IMO they are good solid bars and worth every little bit of work to get them on-!!!

+2 - today my dealer installed the Altrider crash bars, the altrider skid plate, altrider rear rack, and altrider thing on the side stand. really looks good and the technician kept remarking about the quality build of each accessory. He said they all went on smooth as silk. I can tell you they for sure enhanced a bike that didn't need much enhancement. Thanks to Tabasco for his advice and help on this project. ::012::

Got em on finally! The secret seems to be starting the side bolts first before you insert the two center bolts on the engine. That, and a bit of wiggling. I do notice the extra weight now unfortunately.... :-[
