Fantastic ::008::

And good to see you a bit out of your depth, having always been in awe of the type of riding you do it was very refreshing to see you struggling in "my world", glad you liked it though, I really like tarmac, and that in the Alps is my very favourite.

French tolls - card in tank bag pocket, or bike jacket pocket that is easy to reach whilst sat on - or have a bag of coins handy and choose a manned booth, hand over bag of coins and let the operator take the right cash and give you the bag back. If two up get the Mrs to sort the tolls, she can take off gloves and get out card as you slow for toll, and also can stow a new ticket in a pocket as you ride away from toll - simples ;-)

I do however steer clear of camping, there are just so many empty Hotels in the Alps during summer time, always warm if it is cold, or cool if it is hot, somewhere to dry your gear if you are wet and easy to walk in / walk out with none of this pitching a tent in pouring rain nonsense - and far less to carry - in my huge metal panniers, take out inner bag / walk into hotel - simple ;)

Fit some more road orientated tyres and keep the 1200 for these type of trips ::008::

Except the motorway and some boring busy roads in Switzerland, the rest of the little roads where really nice, the Alps are magnificent!!. But the best parts where off course the off road tracks.
This trip was very different to the previous trips I had in group, hard terrain and hotels. This was part of the enjoyable experience and this is why I like to have a smaller and lighter bike.
So… to late to have road tires, the bike is gone and I’m going to start my new project with the Tenere 660.
Thanks for the advice about cards, I must have a tank bag and metal panniers for this king of trip..
I hope tomorrow I can post the second day, nice pics, you we’ll see…
