If you had a CA bike, I'd understand the stalling and popping more, but you shouldn't be having those issues. ::026:: on the zip tie for the throttle cables, I did that the first day. WTF? Like this is a KLR or something. ;) Just leave the tie loose enough that the cables can move as you turn. It's throttle by wire... after the cables get to the device hanging off the TB. Too bad they didn't make use of that for optional CC. :(

thanks for the many responses. Zip tie solves the cable throttle problem. I've been running premium and not keeping it under 4k rpm. I'm pretty sure it is a throttle body issue and I know the dealer won't fix because I went through this with my Grizzly 700 that would stall just off idle. The dealer tried to fix but never did. I will be looking to do throttle body and CO mods. Would like to find someone in PA who has done these mods to help me.... will buy pizza and/or beer! So let me know if there is anyone out there... wondering if there are any tenere group rides in the area? I've put 500 miles on in 3 days, looking for riding buddy.
Hate to appear to be promoting Romney Cycle again... but it sounds like you need a better dealer. And you sound like you're up for a ride - head down to Romney WV. Not sure how they'll handle something that may be a setup issue caused by another dealer, but if it can be related a warranty item I'm sure they'll take care of it for you, probably while you wait. Just give them a call first and give them a heads up.

looking for new tires for tenere... I have Metzler touring ext .. i have 1500 miles on the bike, my rear tire is 80% gone.. love the tire but can't afford to replace every 1800 miles. Looking for recommendations.. I apparently ride much more aggressive than others on this forum although I have never done a burnout and almost always use traction control. Has anyone else wore a tire out that fast? I do 80% street riding, 20% dirt roads (no real off-road). Looking for tires with a bit more longevity. I used to get 5000-6000 miles on my FJR and thought I'd get more miles on this bike with less power and traction control. If there is somewhere else I should be looking, please let me know.

I just today changed out my Metzeler EXPs for a pair of K60s. The EXPs had 7800 miles on them with still usable street tread. Pretty much useless off pavement though.

There's a couple other tire threads active right now. If you are going for mileage, my opinion is that Tourances (not EXPs) are as good as it gets in a 90-10 tire.

Thanks for the replies.

Update: I now have a little over 1500 miles on the bike and it still stalls and misfires. Have an appointment at dealer on Saturday to get throttle body synced. Hopefully that fixes my problems...at least all but the tire wear issues.

I had mine back in the dealers yesterday. If, for example, I was approaching a junction at very low speed and revs waiting for a gap in the traffic, and began to accelerate the bike would hesitate for a second and then pick up.

The mechanic said the injector balance was 'OK' but he re-balanced them anyway. He also said he altered the CO2 as it was running a little rich. Which it was....I don't know put the problem has been solved.

Hope you get sorted as easily.

I live somewhat west of you, have the tools and equipment to sync. Sync is sync, but setting the exhaust numbers is equal to mixture changes on a carb. I did the sync plus the exhaust gas, it helped a bunch.
If no satisfaction, PM me and we'll meet and see how we can fix you up.

Ultimately, I'm guessing I'll need to do the ECU reflash.

As for tire wear: they last longer than sport rubber, and are cheaper too. My Bridgestones are about halfway done, I did a bit too much high speed slab riding during very hot bather, and they show it.

From my viewpoint, the Tenere has been better than expected in every category. Like most things, I tend to use the following criteria for things lie this: would I buy it again? Answer: yes. I think that's enough.

Let me know if you need assistance.

Yamahaguy55.... PM sent...thanks.

Current update: dealer checked TBS everything was good. Checked all sensors that the book said they could check and everything checked out good. Dealer is going to contact Yamaha to see what they can find out but told me that it would probably not get me anywhere. Suggested that I try to solve problems on my own. He did witness the misfiring and stumbling and put on his receipt so that I would have documentation for Yamaha. Very impressed with service manager at dealer even though he couldn't solve my problem.

Have had for 5 weeks and have just over 2000 miles. Really love riding the bike....would love it more if it didn't stall.

We'll help you add miles. If you have a lighter, knobby equipped street legal off road bike, we can help you there as well. I ride both; plenty of great riding around here. I ran up 120 miles off road yesterday on the WR250R.
