Im heading out in a few weeks to make the run from Chicago to Prudhoe Bay. I have a wifi only iPad and have been debating if it would be worth bringing it. For those of you that have made this trip, or traveled through BC and the Yukon, what kind of wifi availability did you find?

Do you think it is worth bringing it, or will it be dead weight?

Thanks!

BRING IT!

You'll have LOTS of wi-fi. Satellite connections are everywhere. Slow but everywhere.
I had it in a place called Circle, AK.

Ever thought of doing the Dempster to Inuvik? It's an amazing ride, very beautiful. I opted for this far north route over the Haul Rd. / Prudoe.

In Yukon, you will only have wifi service, and cell phone service, in the communities. Outside the communities, there is no service. You will require a satellite device. And some of the services in the smaller communities are unreliable. I don't know about Alaska but I suspect much the same.

If you want to be able to communicate anywhere, anytime, you will need some sort of satellite device. This applies to northern B. C., as well. Good luck. R

I took a wifi only tablet last year and had web in almost all campgrounds and motels. Best of luck! Look up Olaf and Judy at the Arctic Chalet in Inuvik...charming people and a great place to stay.
