Gave up trying to keep the bike clean... Seems theres so much dirty road spray everywhere at the mo. Can't remember it being so bad. Just hope there's not too much salt mixed in. Will the Tenere fall apart? ???

I just give it a good clean late Autumn then a liberal application of ACF-50, and not worry too much, what you have is just normal winter grime from road spray and a little salt. Nice tyres btw.

Just in case anyone is planning on riding through Northumberland in the near future a word of caution - the roads are in appalling condition. I was up around Rothbury last week for work (in the car) and noticed so many roads that are literally falling to bits. Pot holes, ruts, gravel from tarmac break-up and edges that have crumbled dangerously (over a foot missing in places). The winter (and last years probably) have taken quite a toll and for added jeopardy there's mud everywhere too and silt from flooding. Not ideal. The main roads aren't much better either, take care folks.

P.S. how are you getting on with the Avon's Tenbob ?

Suppose I feel a little smug I'm probs on the right bike for the road conditions were putting up with. Pot holes, cracks, unevenness n general road shite. More n more of it I'm seeing. One of the reasons I went with a different bias for me tyres this time instead of pure roadies. Speaking of which, 2112, I'm so pleased I went with em. Got me confidence back which was so lacking in the cold, wet, grime n gravel. Probs other tyres that do much the same, but liked the look of the tread pattern on these Avons so feel I've got me cake n eat it! :)

Pleased you're getting on with them: I used to like the Avon Distanzia's as they had excellent dry grip and handled gravel and assorted road detritus well. The only down side was the wet weather performance which gave plenty of feel (and warning), but not the outright grip of others. I assume the new tyres have addressed this ?

Thought you meant BMW GS's were everywhere!
Well that might have some mileage in reality... ;)

Can't really comment there mate as no comparison to draw on with this style of rubber. Just know I'm back upto speed on the curves now and that's only been achieved on wet or/and slimey roads so far. Always, tricky not to recommend too much as we all have different expectations and skills, but for me they have gripped confidently in the crap weather conditions thrown at em in the 3 outings since they were shod last Saturday. Went on a rideout with about a 100 bikers on Sunday and the pace hotter up in parts. Had the Mrs riding pillion n the Avons did what I asked of em really. Just wish I could persuade the wife to clean the shite off me bike after every run... I have told her most other wives n girlfriends, do.., ;D but without success so far! :(

Me too. My bikes are clean the day I buy them and the day I sell them. In between those two events I do rinse and even sometimes (briefly) take a soapy sponge to them. But for me a truly clean bike would be way too much work for the few moments it would stay that way.

Ive noticed there are just as many "pot holes" about even though we've had a really mild winter ..i remember going to poland a few years ago and thinking my god ( well something like that ..lol..) these roads are terrible , but i think the roads in the uk are now just as bad . And not just pot holes, i was coming up behind a car the other day and i thought what's he doing . He was swerving all over the road , as i got closer i realised he was trying to miss these "manholes" that were a good 6 inches lower than the road ...

Staffordshire council "fix" the same 2 potholes every year near my place. By fix, I mean they put some tarmac in it and let cars level it out!! Usually stay ok for about 2 weeks then back to square one.

I guess the Council's have a tight budget these days but this notion of 'temporary repair' really seems a waste of money. As you rightly say Daviedevs they'll come along 'fix' the pothole and then within a few weeks it's at least as bad as it was, if not worse. I reported a real stinker near my house where the sub-base was getting chucked out and scattered. The Council came along and put a tiny amount of tarmac in the hole and left the gravel to scatter around. Three days later and it's worse than it was... I have reported it again, lets see what happens this time ::007::
