Aftermarket exhaust, regret?

Yes, another thread about exhausts, stop reading here if it bothers you.
I just bought a '14 ES and I am considering to buy either an Arrow slip on or a Yoshi pipe.
I am looking for more rumble, a nicer "soundtrack", don't want to triggercar alarms or annoy people around me.
I have seen some people selling their Yoshi due to being too loud. Not so much for the Arrow.
Any advice, personal experience?

The standard can is a little too stifled for my taste, however I don't want a race sound either. I have heard the Arrow can (Euro spec, no idea if the US one is different ?) and it does sound a bit more grunty and purposeful than stock, but not loud. Could be a good choice ?

I find the Arrow without the db killer a bit too noisy, but with the db killer fitted I like it.

Sounds like you are looking for the Akrapovic...quiet yet mean. The Arrow DB killer also kills any power gains along with the sound but if that doesn't bother you I haven't really heard any negative things about the Arrow can and it's certainly cheaper than the Akrapovic.

I have the LeoVince carbon slip-on and am very satisfied but I don't know if it's available in the US any longer.

Since the arrow can yields less than 2bhp, it's not power that it's bought for.

Arrow Claim about 2.5 BHP for the can and 9BHP for the full system....

I don't want any more noise, it just annoys neighbours, the Police and the sort of people who have nothing better to do that write to their MP about noisy motorcyclists, but losing weight and gaining power is of interest (less so weight since I swapped to bikes weighing over 1/4 ton and stopped going to the Gym)

I have the Arrow headers which added 6BHP to the bike right away, and lost a couple of kg of weight, but they do need a lot of work to get the fueling spot on.

No regrets as I have a stack more power and barely any more noise, would quite like the Arrow end pipe to finish the job, but too tight to pay new prices.

I have the Yosh slip-on and don't think it's too loud. I guess it's all relative according to the individual. No difference in power that I can tell but it sounds faster!

I have the Arrow in titanium. It is beautiful and without the insert sounds great. A little loud for the campground at 6am, but fine (IMO) for normal riding. The insert cuts the noise quite a bit.

I have a Remus end can. Just nice without the decibels.
To each his own. The Remus hangs so low it looks more like an 'afterthought' than aftermarket, IMO. No way I'd pay that kind of price for such a poor fit.

We have an annual test for vehicles older than 3 years. The mechanic that fitted my Arrow exhaust said he would NOT fail it without the insert. So it's not that bad. I feel a bit self conscious not having had a louder exhaust on any bike for a number of years so I choose to ride with the insert in place, perhaps when I get used to that I'll try it without again.

I bought the Arrow for looks and tone and that I could get it at a very good discount so when I came to sell it I wouldn't lose much on the deal. I got the Titanium version so I wouldn't have to worry about corrosion as I ride throughout the year, even when the roads are salty.

As far as power gains, the graph here on Arrow's own site shows what Arrow claim http://www.arrow.it/usa/prodotti/motociclo.asp?IDM=11&IDTab=1023. Note the chart scale is PS not BHP. Standard exhaust: 91.47PS, Arrow Slip On: 93.35PS, Arrow Full System: 99.02PS (or 90.22/92.07/97.67 BHP).

I expect re-flash, plus dyno tune or power commander, with the exhaust would get you a bit more.

Yes, I like the tone/sound of the Arrow silencer from what I've had a chance to listen to. I'm currently running the Arrow headers with stock can. I would like a bit more growl without the annoying sound levels. From my experience with DB killers, I'd rather not fuss with removing and inserting them, so I'd probably leave it in most of the time if I had the Arrow. For that reason, and for noise concerns in my area of the world, I think I'll pony up for the Akra can. Its sound level is barely above OEM, but the note is much nicer.

I still remember running a motard thumper with titanium aftermarket can, at the very beginning of spring, when snow was still in the mountains. This muffler had a 'JMCA' certification plate riveted to the exterior, which meant it was in compliance with noise standards for Japanese street bikes. I pulled into a rest stop and kept the bike running for about 30 seconds to let my electric vest catch up with no cold wind beating on my chest. Got some pretty intense glares from the tree huggers and I suppose I don't blame them. The pipe had a low note that carried pretty far. Anyhow, the goal is to be happy with the sound without ruining whatever blissful moments for others are in 8)

My S10 has just passed the MOT with an un-baffled Arrow can

I have the OEM and no plans on changing it at all.
Just be careful with the choice you make, I've seen some aftermarket ones that as opposed to the OEM or Akrapovic that gas flow is to the ground, the gas flow is directed to the rear of the bike, the result is a catastrophic meltdown of the plastic parts behind it, such as turn signals, DOT reflector and even the fender.

Guys, i appreciate the feedback. I think I am going with the Arrow slip on, it is fairly priced at around $480.00.
I see majority of the owners talking about power at the wheel being at around 90-93HP, maybe based on that Arrow chart.
The link below includes a dyno on the three bikes tested (one of them the ST10 ES) at over 97HP and torque at almost 76lb/ft ::024::

I used to have an arrow on my gs, and liked it around town, but made too much noise at highway speeds, specially annoying at 140-160 km/h. had to wear earplugs for that...and my pillion, hated it..it also melted one of my variocases..and left turn signal..

I'm keeping my stock baffle.
