After market exhaust

Hi, new to the forum, had my S10 World Crosser for 18 months, upgraded to it after 5 years on the last of the last generation R1....and what an upgrade, yeah the R1 was fast (ridiculously fast) and comfortable for a hyper-sports, but WOW, never realised just how much fun this S10 was going to be. I love it, can't keep off it, can't stop spending cash on it....which brings me to my question.
I want to fit a slip-on can to the exhaust, to give it a bit more presence on the road (the stock one is a bit quiet for UK traffic) and to let it "breathe" a little. There are many manufacturers that make a can for it but only Akrapovic that has a "turn down" pipe at the end. I've been told that without this, the rear LHS indicator will be damaged by the heat from other "straight" cans, does anyone have a Remus or 2Brothers etc fitted that can comment.

I have a LeoVince Carbon can on mine. They all come with two baffles, one that pushes the gasses out at a slight downward angle and the other has a turned down tip that fires them straight down (see photo). Both make the bike sound like a 1200cc twin should, without drawing the wrong sort of attention.

Staintune works good with a turn down tip. Full mechanical baffling so no repacking, and legal note with stock bung in place too.

The Leo Vince won't mess up the indicator with or without the down turn DB killer. The exhaust is light weight and sounds good.

I have a Yoshimura. Sounds great but not too loud and does not affect license, fender or turn signal.

Sounds very nice and a tad bit quieter than the 2 Bros.

I just bolted on a Leo Vince and love it. With the dB killer installed, sounds a lot like stock (maybe a touch louder). Take out the dB killer and it has a nice bark without being obnoxious. Love the sound! Might be totally between my ears, but the bike feels a little peppier. Plus, it is approx. 7 pounds lighter than stock.

If you have a chance, please post the specs for the Staintune. I mean what model, ETC. I gather a custom midpipe would need to be made? I like the baffle idea and no repacking. Anyone try any other baffle OEM can, like the GSXR 1000 or equivalent?

I am aware that they make a S10 specific setup now, although it seems nearly impossible to find. I was inquiring about the alternative muffler models, like the Triumph, year, model, ETC. I have no issues building a custom midpipe since I have a tig welder. if I was lucky enough to find a S10 specific staintune and won the lotto that would work out well. I am after a $100 take off, more in my price range.

Ride on ADV suggested a Arrow slip on (not the full system) and I couldn't be happier....Love my Arrow...

You can order directly from Staintune in Australia, BTW... and just for the record, Staintune made Super Tenere mufflers for a while, then discontinued them. I know. I contacted them directly in Australia about getting one during the time they were discontinued. Even though they were discontinued they said they could build one, special order, if anybody wanted it. They told me they were concerned that the Super Tenere was going to be dropped from Yamaha's line-up, and sales had been slow, so they pulled them from their catalog. However, now they have listed the Super Tenere exhaust under "New Products", and have added them back in the catalog and started producing them again. Hence, you should able to get one from the US distributor or one of their dealers now.

As for "alternative muffler models", that was not apparent from what you said in your previous post...

All you asked for was "specs for the Staintune"... ;)

The S10 Staintune is still current. Mine was ex-stock, direct from the factory.

FWIW, I got a Firestorm RHS side Staintune on eBay for $90 that I intend to adapt to one of my DR650s. Keep an eye out, they come up from time to time, especially here in Oz.

I got one for my S10, Steve. Sounds much nicer than the Leo Vince it came with. And it mounted up perfectly to the Arrow headers, no modification needed. Andthe angle of the Staintune Firestorm tip sees exhaust heat exit below the LHS indicator.

Very happy with the result for the $95 outlay....which includes some cheap flat black paint (couldn't have anything chrome/polished on my 10)

I also tried to get a Staintune for my S10 during the time they weren't available. I ended up buying a new KTM540 Staintune from CBT Imports and had a connector made up. I ended up reversing the insert to direct the exhaust over the turn signal. Seems to work very well.
