Yamaha can't void your entire warranty for installing a fuze block. I think what they can do, is refuse warranty on a part ,or the wiring for that part, if it was proved to be caused by the fuze block.

If you are not sure of how to install one, have the dealer do it. That may save some hassle...

Oh yeah....the temp probe is for my dedicated Trail-Tech temperature gauge.

I added dual Fiamm 'freeway blaster' high/low tone horns to replace the wimpy beep-beep.

Yes the speedo is way off - over 5mph fast at higher speeds and it is one of those things that really bugs me, so SpeedoHealer to the rescue!

Steve.

Do you have some additional photos of your dash installation (dash.jpg above)? Is there a thread on that project somewhere? Looks like a handy bit of work.

Thanks,

Pete

Cool, thanks. Yep that's what I was thinking, "good place for the controller".

So basically they two power outlets (right side factory, left side powerlet) hold the shelf in place?

I really like this dash idea... and so I ordered a sheet of the ABS today to make my own... yes, I'm stealing this idea! O:)... Why because it's a great one!

However, I did notice that on the www.Powerlet.com they have this http://www.powerlet.com/product/aluminum-washer-for-pso001/228 washer... I've wanted to replace the... well to me worthless Yamaha outlet with a Powerlet outlet. So my thinking is take out the Yamaha outlet and replace it with a Powerlet one using two of these washers AND the dash to take up the extra area in the Yamaha dash = The hole for the Yamaha outlet is larger than the hole for the Powerlet outlet.

I'm running all my accessories power from the FZ-1 Fuseblock.

Anyone see any fault with this thinking?

Does anyone REALLY use the stock Yamaha outlet for anything? I think I remember that on this list most said that it is a cigarette lighter outlet and has a low amperage. Is this right? ::009::

It's fine for accessories other than heated gear, lighting, tire inflaters, etc. Low draw items like GPS and the like can be handled no problem.

I use it for a GPS. Seems that some have a problem with loose fitting plugs in this socket and have blamed it on the socket, but some plugs, like my Garmin power plug fit just fine and don't vibrate loose.

I've also found Japanese plugs to fit really well...at least the domestic market ones. A real positive engadgement just before bottoming out. All of the loose fitting ones I've come across were of American manufacture.
