Need to ask the boot experts...... :D

Here's my deal.... A 43 in most bike boots is a little loose for comfort, and 42 in most bike boots is to tight.... My Red Wings I wear everyday are a 42.5 and are GREAT......

What would you guys suggest for a motorcycle boot purchase ? Prolly looking at Sidi Adventures..... Any suggestions welcome!

I have a pair of Gaerne Balance Pro-Tech boots. (Not quite the same as the Balance Oiled boots --no waterproof membrane, much stiffer/thicker leather than the balance oiled version, in many ways a competitor to Aerostich CBT boots).

Really like them, good mix of protective elements and still comfortable. A nice compromise boot. Probably (like most Gaerne boots) fits wider feet better.

EDIT1: picture link not working...will see if i can figure it out. EDIT2: got it!

Word of warning about Aerostich Combat Boots for serious use:

Last month I was wearing a pair when I took a tumble on a downhill section of single track while riding my WR250. The bike landed on my left foot smashing it. More importantly, the footpeg of the 300 pound bike traveling at 15 MPH landed on the inside of my foot. I knew right away something broke cause it hurt bad. I've been wary of the Aerostich Combat boots, but it was more due to ankle/shin support. I think a better pair of boots with more toe/foot support than just leather would have minimized my injury. So, once I heal up completely I'll be looking for a better pair of boots for off-road riding.

Pics of the foot a few days afterword, cause broke stuff is cool:

I have the Scouts and love them. I am able to walk around quite comfortably when investigating old mines and such. I couldn't do that in some of the "plastic" boots I tried. My main criteria for boots, beyond basic construction, waterproof and protection was to be able to walk out should I get stranded. Sometimes in Montana that can be a good long ways.
Plus 1!!

Great boot, plenty of protection. I wore them around the house for half a day and then took them out riding. They broke in pretty fast. I've had them for over a year now. They have been through all kind of weather, not too hot in the summer, waterproof(I hate wet feet!!), and I've taken small hikes(3 miles) with them w/o any problems. I have somewhat wide feet and big calfs(no Sidi boots for me-too small width/calf wise) and they are comfortable. Great protection too!!

What the heck boots are you looking at, or ride with now ? I have a pair of sport touring boots Ive worn on my FJR for several years, but they are street boots.. Ive been reading my butt off about adventure type boots. I think I have it down to three or four pairs.. And they are all about the same price.

What are you looking at? What do ya have? Have you been looking, if so at what brand or style ? I know boots are like an oil thread, but would like to know what you LIKE and DONT LIKE.......

Looking at:
Sidi Adventures
TCX Infinity
Etc...
Etc......
These types.... Ive changed my mind about ten times... Are the TCX Infinities ADV off road boots? I have not decided on anything and not locked onto anything..... If ya got something you like, spill the beans....... ! ! ! ! ! ! Thanks O0
Gaerne G - Adventure Boots. I have a wider foot and cannot get my feet into even one size over Sidi's. The Gaerne's are absolutely waterproof. ::009::

I also have the Gaerne Adventures...nice boot, fit was a just a teeny bit big for me (10 US), but that leaves room for double socks or just for my feet to breathe. Comfortable to walk with, but they are not made for walking a long distance. Haven't rode in them in the rain, but they look like they will keep my feet dry.

What are your thoughts on the ankle protection on these? Can they double as an off-road boot with moderate protection?

I'd say they are sufficient, but I'm not a boot expert by any means. Mine are sturdy at the inner and outer ankle, and feel stout enough to protect against some average brush and weeds. There is external protection (plastic) at the shin. Although I bought these for long road trips, I wouldn't be afraid to wear these off-road every now and again.

Just my opinion of course 8)

SIDI..THE WAY TO GO...I HAVE THE DISCOVERY MODEL.
I have the Disco's for off roading and SIDI On Roads for tarmac.

The On Roads are 11 years old and I just re-soled them. They are impressively well constructed and comfy out of the box.

I also have the Sidi Discovery Rains and chose them over the Adventure model. I tried them both on and the Adventure model is a lot siffer, which probably offers better protection off road. However, I don't plan on riding anything too crazy on my S10, (mostly fire roads and forest service roads), so I wanted a boot that was going to be a bit more comfortable. The Adventure offers a lot better protection than a touring boot, but is still reasonably comfortable.

I have the Gaerne Adventure Boot. I can tell you this is the most comfortable boot I have ever put on. I have not put it to the test in terms of durability as I have only had it for about 2 weeks but it truly feels like a boot maker came to my house and custom made a boot for me. Great workmanship.

+1 Every Gaerne I have ever had is like that and my Adventure boots stay true to that history. I have tried lots of different boots in different styles but everytime I put on a set of Gaernes I question why I every try anything else. Great Boots ::012::

I have been trying on every boot out there. I have wide feet and big calfs and most tall boots don't fit up high. I just tried on the BMW Santiago boots and found a perfect match. Big $$$$ at $389 but the quality is unreal and the sole is perfect for my needs. Light weight and easy to walk in good protection. BMW badging is very minimal on buckles.

Jaxon, and everyone looking at boots right now, PLEASE do yourself a favor and at least try these boots on or take a look at them. The only draw back I can find is that you have to go into a BMW shop to look at and or purchase.
