Ok well i dumped a bunch of money on my bike ::025:: and bought altrider engine guards which i wish i bought earlier since they provide the best cover for your components. Also the Yamaha OEM tank bag which is really roomy and is secured down to the bike well, the only gripes is that the side to side movement gets pretty nutty when you are bouncing up and down ::014:: over logs, stumps and god know what throwing it to the side an inch or two and the stitching i'm keeping an eye on ??? even though there is a one year warranty. Don't even get me started on the Heidenau K60 scouts..... ::002:: All i'm gonna say is that if you think about going off road these will take care off you and you can really use your bike to its full potential ::26::
Ok on to the Radiator damage.... ::010:: I was doing some trail riding and it has been raining a lot down here in Florida and i normally go to Osceola National forest to scoot around so the ground was damp and soggy and i slipped in some soft grass and caught my steering column to the left and i went down into a roll. The AltRider crash guards did not move at all and the six mounting bolts took a 600LB bike impact like a champ. The only thing is that they scooped up the turf and mud and it caused the mud and grass to push into my radiator fairing. In the video you can hear the fan making a shitty noise and i became worried about replacing it. Come to find out the muck ever so slightly bent the mounting brackets of the fan and caused one side of the fan to rest on the radiator and friction wouldn't allow the fan to spin. I noticed my coolant temp raise and didn't dissipate like normally indicating an airflow issue since there was no leaks or major damage.., :'( When i got home i saw what had happened and adjusted the fan bracket and i'm good to go now. The only thing is that removing the fairing with the altrider engine guards was tight but i wiggled it off since the installation of those engine guards are sucky to put on buy your self. :-[ Either way this was a good learning opportunity and first time i had to repair my bike.
