A six inch length fits, I don't think an 8 inch will.

It will fit width wise as the mounting brackets are on top of the light housing so the 8" measurement is total. The void is almost 10" in width. It was more the height I had concerns about, whether or not the bottom of the light would contact the fender when the suspension bottoms out.

The Rigid Industries SR is...
... is 6.5" on the mounting (to the Tenere) bracket
... is 7 3/4" wide at the mounting (light to bracket) points

And the RI one is $320 plus shipping here in Oz. I can't justify paying 5 times more for the RI when I will rarely be riding at night.

I'm looking at this project as a functional void filler. I could just knock up a mesh grill for the void, but having extra lighting for not much more dollars makes more sense to me.

Whoops, sorry for being part of the sidetrack on your thread instead of trying to answer your question.

Looking the the pics on EBay the light is 60.5mm or about 2.4 inches tall so if you can keep the mounting tucked up reasonably tight I think you'd be fine.

The void filler I'm replacing with the RI light today filled the entire void - extending about 4 inches below the headlight - and I've never had any contact issues with the fender. In the interest of full disclosure I don't do jumps, full wheelies, or ride hard off-road on the Tenere so I've likely never bottomed-out the front suspension.

Hope this helps...

I put a a Rigid Industries 6" SR2 under my lights.
Am considering putting an SR2 on mine and would like to know if the supplied brackets are suitable for a solid mount (any fab work required), and what did you go with for a switch? Thanks!

I placed the order for the 8" light bar yesterday so fingers crossed everything will be fine.

Including the mounts on the light it is around 85-90mm which is going to be cutting it fine re suspension travel. But, I'm a bit of a MacGyver when it comes to making things work, so I should be able to tuck the bracketry up fairly snug one way or another.

Once its done Ill post up some pics in case anyone else wants to head down this route.

Cheers,
Glenn

I'm interested in seeing how the Cree stands up against the RI light bar, especially since the Cree is $70 and the RI is $220. Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you don't.

Couple of snips at some plastic so the mount can sit flush - otherwise the light fits like it was made to be there.

I went with a custom switch from Jaxon at Rideonadv - but the light comes with a rocker switch, or you can drop $30.00 on a waterproof pendant switch from RI that is plug-and-play...

I hope to have it done on Friday afternoon. Maybe not 100% finished with brackets painted and wired up, but it will give you (and me) a good idea whether its going to work with the suspension travel or not.

I just hope it arrives before Friday as Im away for the weekend.

The 6" SR2 fits perfect in the 2 mounting holes under the headlights. You have to trim either the metal brackets or the plastic a little.
I used the supplied rocker switch and mounted it up on the left side of the inner fairing. No need to use a handlebar switch cause I don't intend to use it on road.
Would post pics, but the bike is snowed in.

Well, its mounted! And I'm pretty happy with the way it looks ::018::

The bracketry I've used (all from Bunnings) allows for approx 190mm for suspension travel. Well, 187mm to be precise so hopefully I don't bottom it out and smash the fender.

I haven't wired it yet. That's a job for tomorrow.

That looks great! Placing my order now! Any chance you can get some Photos of your brackets and details of what you used? I am not going to reinvent the wheel if I can go to Bunnings and just copy your design! With full credit given to you of course!

I wish I had taken photos along the way cos I'm definitely not pulling it off now! It was kinda fiddly behind the mounting holes.

I'll see what I can do.
