I hate Revzilla!

Well, I hate Revzilla Emails, actually.
I can't resist clicking the links in them.
Then I can't resist logging into PayPal.
Then I can't resist................

I love that jacket. But thankfully, I've already "cheaped out" on Klim Badlands Pro gear.
So finally I CAN resist something at Revzilla. No thanks to YOU arjayes. :)

How do you like it? I was tempted to pull the trigger in the latest sale but read a few reviews that said the Badland leaks in the rain (mostly noticeable on naked bikes), mainly because it's so hard to get the front zipped and closed correctly...

Badlands gear is awesome. I have the full set.

Blaming the gear for getting wet when the closures are not fully or properly addressed by the rider seems to be a bit unfair.
agreed and I like good quality gear but how complicated does a jacket need to be ?

Back to the original post of this thread: Discounted $400 ?
Most of the gear I have purchased has not even cost $400. I like a good bargain and tend to buy leftover, closeouts and lightly used quality gear for as much as 50% off MSRP.

+1 $1200 jacket is starting to sound like its made from Whale Foreskin...Wear what you dig but that's seems ridiculous for just a jacket.

Don't deprive yourself, snake. You deserve this jacket! A distinguished man like yourself should stand out from that Klim crowd, especially since it now includes me! By the way, the Armas pants are also 30% off. :D

I just popped for the Badlands jacket a couple of weeks ago, along with two new pairs of boots. On Sunday I finally ordered the Badlands pants (had a hard time deciding), along with the Dakar pants for *ONLY* an extra $160. Despite all that I was actually tempted (briefly) by this Rukka sale. I've lost all cred on giving my wife any grief about spending on clothes!

They were saying it was quite a task to button it all back up properly with a helmet on, as you have to occasionally do on a ride.

I saw the Rukka sale on Revzilla. Would love to have, but for price and protection I go with the Rev'it Sand 2 jacket and pants. I did change back protector for one from Klim. I love Revzilla.

I've had the RUKKA Armas for two years now... best gear I have ever owned.... There are a few things that have not been said that pushed me over the edge other than all the positive things said on advrider... It comes with a five year warranty no questions asked. I've read that a few customers have had issues beyond the five year mark and RUKKA sent them the latest version of the pant or jacket they had 'issues' with at no or very little cost. They also have a crash protection program to try and keep you in there gear. I've forgotten the exact specifics, but if you crash and tear up your Rukka gear they will give you a significant amount off new gear so you can stay in there brand. The gear is hard core and I absolutely love it. I've laughed several times under my helmet when its pouring down rain for hours on end and im dry as a bone. I've NEVER had one drop go down my neck, waist, cuffs, Etc.. Dry-dry-dry in the most outrageous down pours, even for hours on end. (other equipment can do the same, I know, im passing on my experience)
In twenty years when this gear wears out, or I have a fall I will go back to the RUKKA brand.. Once you go Rukka its hard to go back to anything else. One out of five stars, Its five star all day in my experience... Expensive, yes - worth it, yes. If anyone is interested in specific questions about this gear/brand, just PM me....

I don't sell it and bought it from Rev-Wal-Mart.

Awesome endorsement, tabasco. sail2xxs says the same. Some negatives I've read about this jacket:

1. Short body cut. I like a tail to cover my ass, although I think the short cut looks better off the bike.
2. Not very good venting, so not comfortable in hot weather. This is where the Badlands Pro stands out (in theory, anyway - I haven't worn mine in hot weather yet).
3. Armor needs to be upgraded, which is ridiculous at this price point.
4. [Edit] Forgot to add that the collar on the Armas looks like a neck brace and I've read several complaints about it being uncomfortable (but it does keep the water out).

Any of these been a factor for you? Did you look at the Badlands Pro? If so, what did you see as the cons of the Badlands that made you choose the Armas?

1. Short body cut. I like a tail to cover my ass, although I think the short cut looks better off the bike.

-(they make 'long' in each size... this gear is meant to be a custom tailored suit. proper sizing is key and WORTH the extra work, It is kind of a pain but its important to fallow there suggestions and have it be worn as a comfortable / wearable, "super skin"... that's what it is.. For me its not something that's loose and flops in the wind, its a very comfortable / wearable body armor that's apart of me, not 'on me'....)

2. Not very good venting, so not comfortable in hot weather. This is where the Badlands Pro stands out (in theory, anyway - I haven't worn mine in hot weather yet).

- (In Texas its hot no matter what you freaking wear, Rukka, Klim, or a T-shirt... The facts are this, the Klim have more zippers and more openings... Here in Texas, if that means blasting 105* air into the zipper makes you cooler than there you go, your cooler... Its still hot..... Most all my friends have Klim and we have had this conversation many times.. With the outlast vest and pant lining, I find myself leaving the liner in 90% of the time, all but the most hot 105*+ days... It keeps me cooler than removing it... As CRAZY as that sounds.. And in the winter just leave it in.. This is also nutty, in the winter (20-30*F) I might have a pair of long johns on and the Rukka... And on the top, maybe a t-shirt, long john top and the Rukka jacket.... I'm worm.... In the summer, just bicycle pants and a vented t shirt & the gear, that's it... The Rukka jacket only has two zipper vents on each shoulder. When these are open in the summer it catches air and creates air pressure that you can feel on your chest and your back. Its as if your jacket is floating around you. If you have your paints zipped to the jacket you can feel the air pressure down the pants... IMOP Klim is very good gear, Ive heard from friends that some of there 'vents' have leaked water.. So I would just think the more zipper openings the Klim has the more chance of water entering. But on the other hand if someone wanted 4-5-6-7- vents this would be the way to go.....)

3. Armor needs to be upgraded, which is ridiculous at this price point.

- (not true IMOP.. Last time I checked they changed over to the orange armor that the high end Klim comes with.. I don't have the orange armor, and have the original 'lesser' black mesh armor and its more pliable in cold and has served me very well for the crashed I've had)

4. Forgot to add that the collar on the Armas looks like a neck brace and I've read several complaints about it being uncomfortable (but it does keep the water out).

- (most of there adds have the gor-tex gator zipped in that is way over kill unless your riding to the North Poll in December,,, LOL But, even with the gor-tex gator removed it does have a neoprene collar that keeps water out, Etc... I don't find it to be personally bother some and its never let a drop of rain go down my neck... I will say that there have been times that I had to undo the collar when its 105*+ F outside, I wanted some type of air around my neck and it wasn't raining.. After I loosen it, its fine for me.... We have a saying here in Texas, ALL GEAR IN THE SUMMER IS HOT !)

Any of these been a factor for you? Did you look at the Badlands Pro? If so, what did you see as the cons of the Badlands that made you choose the Armas?

- (At the time two years ago I was looking to be a Klim dealer. Klim came to the office and we looked at the gear for about 8-9 hours. I looked at every stitch of all the gear. At the time there were things I didn't personally like about certain aspects of the gear. Totally personal for what I wanted and expected for that type of money. From that point in time most of my friends ride Klim and like it. I've tried it, talk to friends about it, and its kick ass gear, NO DOUBT! When it boiled down to fit, "robustness", warranty, (and materials used at the time) I chose the Rukka.... I've been EXTREAMLY happy with it and beaten on it all the time. I don't pussy foot around with it, I use it like its meant to be used and LOVE IT with absolutely no issues.. )

I think Chris has about 125K+ miles on his Rukka..... still kicking strong... I will buy from this brand again next time, no question...

Anyone considering this type of gear, this is a great price from the Ol' Rev-Wal-Mart.......

Thanks, Jaxon. You obviously put a lot of thought into your purchase with detailed knowledge of both products. This kind of feedback is hard to come by and extremely useful for anyone trying to decide.

That's about it then, snakebitten. Resistance is futile! I expect to see some used Badlands Pro gear in the "For Sale" forum very soon after you pull the trigger on your new Armas suit! ;D

This is my "thread of the week"

An incredibly detailed and legitimate comparison between Product A & Product B.
And you gotta be careful or you WILL get sucked in, resulting in declaring a winner and a loser.

Pretty funny considering the LOSER would be wearing Klim Badlands or Rukka Armas.

Oh, and how can I sell my Badlands pants as used? I just gotem. (Yes, I hate Revzilla)
They'll be used next week.
Along with my soon to arrive AGV AX8 DS in crazy cool colors that match the greys and blacks of my Badlands gear. (Man I hate Revzilla)

FWIW, I have two non-BMW riding friends, one on an FJR and the other on an FZ1, who picked up BMW Streetguard III suits on sale on Ebay and couldn't be happier with the quality, the protection, the comfort and the waterproofness of the gear. And they are hardcore LD riders, not your fairweather Starbucks tourers. I've seen the suits in person and they look extremely well made with excellent protection. They are also fairly simple and straightforward regarding closure of zippers and flaps. ::008::

Well, my Badlands Pro pants arrived today and I'm bummed to say that I hate the fit. No way these things are going to work. I'm 6'0" around 210 lbs with a 35" inseam from crotch to floor (usually wear 36 waist/34 inseam jeans). Revzilla CS recommended 36 tall pants and that's what I ordered. The waist is fine but the rest of the pants are so baggy it's a joke. The built-in knee armor would be worthless. Totally different than the fit of the Badlands jacket, which I love. The tall pants are 1-2" too long as well, but that's the least of the problems. I wouldn't be happy with the fit of these pants in any size.

I also ordered a pair of Dakar pants and those are much better. Still a little baggy but they need to be because I'll be wearing armor underneath. I think all the Klim pants have a similar fit. Maybe the Overland are slightly less baggy.

Can anyone comment on the fit of the other Klim Gore-Tex pants (Latitude, Overland, Traverse) vs. the Badlands? The Adventure Rally are not an option.

Thanks,
RJS
