He changed his pronunciation part way through. That was a "like" review. Back in the early days we were passing around a pronunciation website, maybe through Google, where we could have a North African or Frenchman pronounce Ténéré for us. Beatiful word that we still manage to butcher. )barkingllizard said:too bad he doesn't know how to pronounce Ténéré... distracts from any credibility.....

I haven’t had the luxury to spend much time on other big adv bikes, but I have had other bikes and have put some miles on a friend’s R1200GS. As far as the riding experience goes I don’t think the S10 lacks anything in comparison - at least for the way I ride and my abilities.
Well put sir. My sentiments exactly.RCinNC said:LOL, this is the second thread started about this review. I watched the video, and basically I agree with a lot of what he has said about the bike. In fact, about the only thing I don't agree with are his entirely subjective opinions about "personality". That's one of those ill defined qualities, like "character", that mean different things to different people. He shows and comments on how capable the bike is when ridden off road; in fact, he seems pretty impressed by that. He talks about how well it corners (once he got used to the way it rides). He's impressed by the traction it provides on bad bumpy roads, and how solid the bike feels on the highway and how it's not disturbed by turbulence from passing vehicles. He jokes about how heavy it is to pick it up (it is), and about how the locks on the panniers are a little hard on the key (they are). I can't say I disagree about much of what he said about the bike, only that we have different levels of love for it. Is it the problem that he isn't using big effusive phrases like "Amazing!" and "Best big ADV bike ever!" and "Beats a GS hands down!"?
He likes a lot about the bike; he just doesn't like it as much as maybe I do, or someone else on this forum does. It's like talking to someone who's a huge Walking Dead fan; they seem genuinely upset that you don't love the show as much as they do, and anything you say about the show that's less than "this show should be on 24 hours a day" is considered unjustified criticism.
As far as cruising speeds go, the bike is very relaxed at any legal speed I’ve travelled at; 70 to 85 mph is very comfortable.richarddacat said:+1
Did you notice how he was trying to pick the bike up?
Wrong technique, he should have known that.
I got the impression that he liked it but wanted to be critical, theatrical.
Ive seen a few reviews, since I’m shopping for an ST, and I haven’t seen comments on interstate cruising speeds?
What is the sweet spot for high speeds and what speed does it feel, shall I say, wound up a bit too tight?
Thx

80mph (indicated) is where I like to sit for highway use and I ride on Shinko 804/805's. This bike handles wind exceptionally well. Probably because of the rounded, organic shapes and near 600lbs. If you prefer to run at triple digit speeds then look at another machine. The Tenere will do it but not its forte.richarddacat said:Ive seen a few reviews, since I’m shopping for an ST, and I haven’t seen comments on interstate cruising speeds?
