I should have said in previous post about prices, those prices do not include tax, license or title because I live in another state. I am not sure color would be worth one or two thousand, but of course the value of newer model should be worth something. Not sure what though.

Sounds like you've answered your own question. If color isn't work the charge, go for the cheapest. It won't matter much when you go to sell unless you buy YES warranty. Then it can matter.

I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first/last time, but the year of manufacture WOULD make a difference on resale. Two years older is two years older, regardless of miles. If there are no plans to sell, go with the cheapest. Of course I am biased, but the Cobalt Blue is GORGEOUS!! (and I still think the '17s have been improved)

I am going to throw this out here. I have a price of 13k for the 15ES, another at 14k for a 16ES and 15.2 for the 17ES. I am curious to what you guys think. I have been to several dealers and it seems these are the best prices I can get.
If you're willing to do a fly and ride give Romney Cycles a call. It will save you nearly $1K on the '17, and you'll get a nice ride home to get acquainted with your new bike. http://romneycycles.com/

Heck while you're at it, schedule your pick up to join at least 25 or more fellow Tenere riders. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=21214.0

This winter I would have made a road trip to pick one up...just to get out our winter. Now not so much. Thanks for the link and info. I very much appreciate it.

To me, the extra $2-$3k is worth it to get the 2017 as it is the most beautiful to me, and if you did decide to sell a 2017 is always going to be able to sell for more than a 2015 or 2016 to some extent, even though they are all the same bike. You can't go wrong on any for the prices you've found, and all colors would work for me, but I still choose to spend the extra and get the 2017.

Congratulations on the 2017ES. Although I do like and could live with them all, being red, black and cobalt blue, I will say my favorite is the cobalt. I didn't care for the cobalt looking at pictures, but seeing it in person, both inside and outside, it is nice. I also liked the dealer with the 2017 best, but me being frugal, ok cheap, I am having trouble parting with the extra 2500.

This is my only complaint on my 2012 not been able to switch from KPH to MPH as I do most of my riding in the USA. But the US bikes can change from MPH to KPH
I would disagree. My 2012 changes....I forgot how I did it but it does. Hold the right face button in for 3-5 seconds? Maybe it was the left?

As limey stated, the US bikes can do this.

Sorry I should have stated the Canadian bikes can't change to MPH.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for Yamaha to have on version of the bike for the entire world? If there are some that change, and some that don't, that means different vendors, contracts, etc, etc....One bike with one control head that goes from one unit of measure to another. ???

Seems silly to me that a bike billed by the manufacturer as a "World Crosser" doesn't have switchable SAE/Metric units on all of the bikes regardless where they're originally sold.

Bet if we were inside the walls of corporate we would know the explanation AND discover Yamaha wished it were simpler too.
I'm betting It's bureaucratic in origin.

No, because - shock shock - people and their regulations are different around the world. Some examples:

Motorcycles are emotional and most countries around the world allow small slick LED turn signals that aren't as large and spaced apart as NHTSA requires in the US.

California has exhaust requirements that are much harder and more expensive to meet, than in the rest of the US.

Pieces that are considered necessary to sell bikes in some countries, can be sold for a few additional dollars in other countries. US owners virtually demand center stands, which Yamaha has learned can be sold as accessories in the UK.

France used to (not sure if still) requires yellow headlights which would be a violation of US NHTSA safety standards.

In the case of Canadian spec S10 s not having switchable speedometers, I doubt if it is due to a regulation. My Kawasaki is switchable, so is my Dodge pickup, both bought in Canada.

Then for whatever reason, it's something Yamaha Canada probably asked the factory for.
