I had a local dealer her in Huntsville ,Al. call today and offered me a 2014 ES with a out the door price of 14,500 , Was wondering does that sound a little high or is that a reasonable price?
was wondering what some of the other out the door prices have been.

Thanks
Bruce

Would that be Cycle Nation?

I'm watching Cycle Trader and the way I look at it is if I'm buying this setup and paper fee is BS. I'm going to try to make a deal with this not included and if possible have the taxes included. I'll also handle the tags by most likely transfering my current tags.

I don't plan to finance so I may have the upper hand, it's been a quite a while since I've bought new. If I trade that may help the deal even though I suffer a bit of a loss on my bike.

Basically I see the OTD price, that they will easily give you by email is a starting point for the deal. The dealer is not giving you the bottom line and as you can see in Cycle Trader by comparing other offers.
Also if you can put a hunk of cash down or pay cash the dealer will have a bit more incentive, at least that's how it use to be.

That's the way I look at it. Of course the best deals will be on any left-overs and hopefully for me a left-over 2014's. :-\

I know that they do not have one in the store , it was at another store . i know the cycle trader price does not include all the other fees , but they are adding around 1500 for taxes and fees seem a little high . But like you said it could be just a starting point. i am not sure if there are still some rebates on the left over 2014. I know there sign outside said Employee Pricing for left over models. Might just have to go down and see what we can agree on :)

Last time I looked on Yamaha's site was the 014Tenere's have $500 cash available. Not sure if that's on accessories only.

Beware of cycletrader ads...most times, the ads are for non-existent stock.

Not sure that I agree about being able to get the best deal by paying cash, or making a large down payment. Remember, it isn't the dealer financing you, its a bank or credit union. Either way, the dealer gets their money almost immediately.

In my opinion, the potential for the best deal comes without a trade. In other words, no potential loss on the trade.

What I have always found to work well is come up with FAIR out the door price that you are happy with. Offer that price to the dealer and see what they say. More often than not, something has worked out for me at a price that I was comfortable with.

It is not quite as good of a deal as some found in fall but it still looks pretty good. My understanding is the incentives from Yamaha are at $500 and they were $2000 up until Jan 1.

There were 2 that totaled $2,000 until Dec 27. Now those 2 total $1,100

I got a price of $13,000. plus tax, tag, and title. No other fees. Then the guy buying my Explorer bailed so that left me dead in the water.

Had a dealer tell me the single unit cost for the dealer to buy one 2014 ES was $ 14,100.
He also stated if a dealer buys many bikes there is some form of buy back rebate for the dealer.
See reply #7. Those are subtracted from dealer cost. In addition, the dealer gets "holdback" $ after the bike is warranty registered.

I paid $12500 for 2014 ES in early December '14. Dealer only added state sales tax and license registration.
That's probably the best deal I've seen on an ES

Just so there's no confusion...I paid Minnesota state sales tax and license on top of the $12500.

Listing OTD prices is worthless information when going from one state to next.

Yes, it is more useful if we specify OTD plus TTL (tax, title, license). That is an excellent price, by the way, and I assume you bought it between Oct 1 and Dec 27, 2014 to get that price.

EDIT: I see that you stated that you got it in early Dec, so that confirms my assumption. The present rebates are $900 less than they were then.
