I have found personally that there is a lot of vibration through my Tom Tom when mounted onto the bar with a Touratech mount which is a shame.

I have the same vibration problem also. I mount the GPS on the handlebars with a Ram mount and its a lot smoother. The nav bar is tight but shakes on its rubber mounts. Would like to hear any solutions.

Brace the bar as in the picture, some do it with a flat bar, I used some thin lightweight tent poles, flattened the ends and put a bolt through them, can`t adjust the screen the way I have it but don`t need to. Mounted the sat nav on a ram ball clamp and there might be slight wobbling but it`s a hell of a lot better ::012::

My Zumo 660 is mounted on the bar via a Touratech Locking mount, and it does vibrate, and yes, its bloody annoying. I have tightened the 4 allen mount screws located behind the screen and it has improved it a llittle

I cannot fit the supports shown in the above picture as I have winglets fitted to those mounting points, so I'm looking at another option because I'm keen to retain the use of my locking mount

I have yet to fit winglets but when I do I will bend the bars a bit to go inside the winglet mounts, should work ::003::

Anyone concerned that the brackets negate the ability for the screen to break away if something causes the rider to be launched forward?

I never thought about it until someone raised the issue in another thread.

The screen would probably break off anyway if someone was unfortunate enough to go over the front and drag across it.
After all, its only a piece of plastic held on with four screws, threaded loosely into rubber fixings.
Any sticky out item on a bike is a hazard if we hit it hard enough when having a spill i guess.
Cant spend our lives looking at what could happen.
We would all be driving around only in cars or just walking if that was the case.

The vibration is greatly reduced and I no longer watch the windshield mount thinking that it must be fatiguing toward an eventual break.

Also, I agree with AKC that in the event of a sudden forward dismount the well-nuts used to attach the windshield would pop out of the mounting bracket without causing much injury.

Sadly a guy i know lost control of his motorcycle, came to an abrupt stop when hitting a kerb, shot forward and removed half of his tackle when smashing into the fuel tank.
We could say that the gas tank is dangerous?
Where would it end?

And then whilst riding along..... could get struck by lighting......................or an earthquake opens up a hole in front just as riding over it...............a kangaroo hops across the road without warning ( in the uk ).................Superman bumps into me whilst on his way to an incident...etc. etc.
Seriously though, i admire your safety practices.
In the event of a crash, i would love to be wearing all that gear!
Respect.............. ::008::

It's all about where one is comfortable on the risk continuum.....

There is a chance of both dying in a nuclear explosion and getting sunburn today. I'll take my chances with the explosion but am going to use sunscreen before heading out to ride.
