fellas,

I need a left mirror as I busted mine over the weekend :'( . I see that the 2014 models use different SKUs, and it is a bit cheaper (33$ vs $43). I am not too worried about the $10,but rather want to know if the 2014 is better/worse then the old ones. I would appreciate any input from the folks that might have experience with both.

PS. maybe I am on the wrong track, and should use some aftermarket ones. Any advice there ?

PPS. If you have a somewhat clean Left mirror to give up for cheap, please PM me.

I think somebody did a set because they run out board a bit more and he can now see behind better.

LOL, he busted a mirror. I mentioned the '14s coincidentally run wider. ::001::

The stock 14 mirrors are horrible. They look really nice but they aren't very good for seeing behind you. The 13 and older mirrors are uglier but useful.

At first, I preferred the pre-14 mirrors... hated the 14 mirrors but on my recent trip, I decided I like them much more as you get a wider view of everything and even leaned over, they seem to work better if that makes sense. I'm sold..

I used the mirror spacers on my 2012 so that I could see more than my shoulders
I always thought the mirrors looked like cheap mirrors.
I now have a 2014 Tenere and find the mirrors work well and actually look a little better IMHO.

my left mirror is busted (glass and plastic), so that would not work.

I think the mirrors on the 14 are cheap and nasty; form without effect.

It's my main bug bear with the bike. They may be a nice shape but they vibrate and seem to be in a different place every time I get on the bike.

Here's the 2014 overlaid on the 2013 (scaled and aligned to the headlights). The two seed images are from yamahamotorsports.com here and here (the "zoomed" image you get when you click the 360 degree rotating view).

it sure looks like the 2014 mirrors are a bit wider which is a good thing.

I will order one and see what happens. If I like it, i will get a 2nd one, as my right one is a bit loose, and tend to move around a bit when I am on rough roads.

Jeff, do the 2014's vibrate more, less, or about the same?

I'll sell you a set of '14 mirrors if you want. I took mine off and put some aftermarket ones on.
Which ones did you get? Are they an improvement?

Somerset,
I put these Double Take ones on. I liked the width of the OEM '14s but the horizontal "diamond" shape annoyed me as the actual usable part on each end is so narrow and pointed. Plus with the longer ram arm on these I can reach around my "broad" shoulders.

However, these Double Takes do vibrate too...

I can't compare the 2014 mirrors to pre 2014 mirrors, but I can say that I added the Ebay cheapo extenders for a couple more inches width, and the 2014 mirrors work great for me now. ::012::
