2014 madstad windshield bracket on a 2012?

Through searching and reading other threads; I'm still not clear what works....

My bike is a 2012 with stock windshield brackets.

I have 3 extra windshields that go to a 2014.

Those 2014 windshields do not fit on 2012 brackets.

If I were to buy madstad windshield brackets with crossbar that are for a 2014.....will it properly fit on my 2012 bike and allow me to use the 2014 windshields?

I would like to here from someone who may have actually done this, please.

You should be able to use a 14 bracket on a 12 if you use 14 shields. The difference of the two is the windshield hole spacing. 14 is wider I believe. I had a 14 bike and wanted to put a 12 shield on it with the madstad. Bike mount fit fine. I had to make new brackets to hold shield.
