I know this isn't a Harley forum, but just thought I'd spread the word first here. . . . . . H. D. is water cooling touring models for 2014. Now back to your regular program.

It's about time. Harley is without a doubt, the most efficient machine in the world at doing what it was designed and built to do.

Does anyone know if the new water cooled engine will still come with the built in oil leak?

Say what you will about Harleys but those guys are out on the road. On my ride to California this June I saw more Harley (Road King and Bagger types) than any other brand.
They were far from home, covering long distances in strong cross winds. Of course I passed them all traveling at least 20 mph faster on my Tenere.

I'm not surprised: ever tightening EPA regs would have killed off the A/C rear cylinder's valves. I heard they were considering this. The days of air cooled bikes that make power and pass emission specs are closing.
Maybe HD will eventually make something other than true believer's machines. They make a very refined, very high quality 1954 machine.

Possibly however any bike is better than none or a cage, there are few bad bikes just ones you don't like/want at this time, at the end of the day the banter/rivalry is part of the fun of riding a bike and not taking yourself or other bikers to seriously, they do look great on the back of a ute though (ute = pick up)

While I have seen plenty of Harleys that essentially never seem to leave the neighborhood unless on a trailer, and a fair number of Harley riders that seem to make living up to stereotypes an art form, I've bumped into far more Harley riders on long tours than any other brand. Sure, it could be because tons of Harleys get sold, but either way, a fair number of those guys (and gals) are out there riding - and in the end, that's the whole point.

Harley only makes cruisers. All Harleys look like they were built in 1951.

Yes HD is very efficent at turning gasoline into noise, but they have done it without all the annoying side effect of horsepower.

::) ever have a look at a V-Rod? The motor is a collaboration with Porsche and has water cooling. The thing is a monster not unlike the V-Max. ::017::

+1. Rode to the Arctic Circle in '05; figured I'd see all types of STs, DSs, etc. Far and away, the most common bike I saw was HD - not even close. I love all bikes, but the cruiser thing just doesn't trip my trigger; however in the name of full disclosure, I've never owned one. To each their own....

I just did a James Bay trip last week and the only other bike I seen was a HD low rider . I have two HDs in the garage with no oil leaks. Wife's 2002 Softail got T boned last year with 195,000 km on it, she has put 18,000 km on her new softail this year. I stil like to through a leg over my Roadglide but the Ténéré is my bike of choice with 47,000 km in two years and the HD with only 4,000 in two years.

I've owned three H-D's. 03 VRod, 05 Ultra Classic, and currently an 07 Ultra Classic. If they're not you, I think we can all understand that. That said, if I'm riding two up, or cross country on paved roads I'm on my Harley. It's a bad ass bike. Kind of a love hate thing going on there, but when I'm on it...... There is nothing better. Love the ride, hate the maintenance/repairs.

I for one am very interested in the new water hog design. Las Vegas summers will convert most die hard Harley guys.

Now if they could just bring some electronic options, nav, Bluetooth audio, etc...
