I was in the local Yamaha dealer the other day ordering some parts and when I told the kid 2013 Super Ténéré, he looked at me confused and said "is that a Yamaha?" lolknutte-bor-i-amerika said:Dealers...What do they know? Especially something about a low volume bike as ours.
The dealer Robo is talking about owns a Super Ten so he probably knows. I do wonder if the 2013's have the off idle fueling stumble?knutte-bor-i-amerika said:Dealers...What do they know? Especially something about a low volume bike as ours.
My 2013 had the stumble off idle, it's gone now thanks to the clutch mod..20valves said:I do wonder if the 2013's ones have the off idle fueling stumble?

I wonder if they changed manufacturers of the forks or just wanted a better look. I'm kinda stuck deciding on a year-end clearout Blue 2012 or a Matte Grey 2013 at full $$.
No difference, so if I was in your position and you could make a substantial saving on a clearance 2012 model over a 2013 model... I'd be going for the 2012. After all there are no significant mechanical differences as far as anyone has knowledge of, and the 2012 is new and under a standard warranty but you might be able to get a good deal on the YES (extended) warranty. If the matte grey is something you would like on your ride, you could always have the 2012 painted <insert colour of choice here> and still have money left over. Me personally I like the new white (high viz)... but have no problem with the blue.RandyJ said:Anyone notice the colour difference of the orange anodizing on the forks between 2012 and 2013? Exactly. Each to his/her own. The other thing is that one could consider having the bike wrapped - can't recall the proper term for it at the minute, but it's something that is like a stick on vinyl that is wrapped onto exterior vehicle surfaces using heat application I think, as well as an adhesive. On some other motorcycle and scooter forums I frequent it gets discussed. Seems from the forum posts I have read the material is applied to the exterior surface and aside from cleaning prior no other prep is needed. When it is time to remove it, the material can be lifted off without damage to the original surface underneath. There might be issues with ultraviolet light and fade to the underlying paint etc in some countries (e.g. NZ and OZ).RandyJ said:Thanks, seems like spending more on the same bike because of a colour difference is a bit silly. I'm sure for those that really want a certain look, spending more makes sense, but you basically reinforced my thinking. Thanks, and I'll have $$ left over for accessories. ::008::
Nothing silly about it when you're spending a huge chunk of change either way and will be looking at it daily. Just matters whether getting a color you love or saving bucks is a priority. The gray one does look the biz and the matching fork and brake anodizing is a nice cosmetic improvement.RandyJ said:Thanks, seems like spending more on the same bike because of a colour difference is a bit silly. 20valves. I put a K&N filter in my bike and I think that it corrected the stumble...20valves said:The dealer Robo is talking about owns a Super Ten so he probably knows. I do wonder if the 2013's have the off idle fueling stumble?
