2001-2003 GSXR 1000 Muffler mod anyone?

So a popular mod for big bore thumpers is to use a titanium OEM GSXR 1000 can with a custom midpipe. The reason this mod is so popular is because it is a high flow non restrictive baffle style muffler that doesn't require repacking. I went with a FMF muffler on my DR650 and ended up with the GSXR muffler mod due to repacking intervals. FMF recommends repacking every 30 hours....Dooohhh! The GSXR mod gives an authoritative deep "I'm a thumper" sound without setting off car alarms. So I am curious if anyone here has looked into a better, lighter baffle style muffler for the S10? Something needs to be done to my new S10 because when I am out on group rides I can't hear my stock exhaust at all, much too quiet for my liking, but I am not interested in repacking a straight through muffler. So any thoughts?

I like the None dual exhaust in regards to the sound. So the None doesn't need repacking? I also wasn't aware that the Akropovic was a baffle style either. I figured it was a repackable straight through design. Thanks for the info, I will continue my research.

Yes , I've done just that. I have a Akrapovic Hayabusa exhaust on mine and then I made a custom SS mid pipe. Works and sounds great.

I have a couple of Akrapovic's left over from my v-strom 1000. I was thinking of making one work but keep hearing that without the turn down end cap my turnsignal will be short lived.

Well, Ive done it and there was no issue with doing it..... BUT, it depends 100% on how you hang the muffler and build your mid pipe...

I was the 1st NorthAmerican/Canadian to get the None dually system. It sounds GOOOOD  I had a Motorrad carbon can before and this setup is actually easier on the ears, but just sounds better. I've only put about a 1000k on it so far as it's been WINTER   here may I'll get out this weekend
here's a sound bite:Super Tenere None dual exhaust sound bite

Loving the None but how the heck do North Americans go about getting our grubby hands on them? Their website isn't too easy to navigate, at least for me... Do they have a rep over here?

Thanks for the pictures ::008:: I am am considering hacking the midpipe off the stock buick muffler and modding from there. I have some thinking to do. ::017:: Is the Akro pipe you used a baffle style of packing style? Model/year specific?

Packing... I looked at it when I bought it (used) and the packing looked almost new.. No problems with modern muffler packing.. Its not like the old school stuff... Last a long time, easy to replace if/when needed...

I have no idea what year, Etc... I have another muffler like this if you want to PM about it...

Just received my None dual exhaust!

I wonder how many of you out there have done this mod yet....and what I need to adjust to make engine run properly.
I am currently installing it and it is a tight fit, but a REALLY nice piece.
I need to move the blinkers but with the bracket they give you, the blinkers will break the first time you drop the bike.
Also thinking about removing rear pegs and mounts, but am wondering if they need to stay to protect the exhaust.

Lots of guys take the muffler shield off as well as the pillion pegs. Sure it provides some protection if on, but you could also trim it down too (there's an active thread on this) I'm going to keep both on, as removing the shield exposes the mounts for it and looks kinda silly. And, I ride with a pillion regularly. You solo riders have it made...

In regards to the blinkers, LED blinkers should fit no problem in the small space you have. The rear blinkers are easy but the front leds can be a PITA to install, IMO.

Karson, shame on you. :)

Us 2-up guys are the ones that have it made.

A pillion-wife is far less likely to shut your riding down to paint the house. Or mow the yard.
Heck, sometimes I can get HER to stop, and go for a ride instead.

And finally, it was my wife that took ME to Australia to ride a Tenere in OZ!

I'll be keeping them pegz. :)
