Today I took my s10 on a 200 mile trip around Memphis and Jackson Tn. The longest i have rode in a day in many years. I learn a few things about my bike: it never stops impressing me. I never own a bike that cruses down the the interstate at 80 miles an hour so smothly and still want's to pass cars! but I do have few questions for you guys that riden yours more than I. I have the taller yamaha whindshild on my bike it work fine when in clean air but when I get around a simi the wind beats me up pritty good. Do some of the other windshields out thier stop this? I definately want to add highway pegs, I have not seen any out thier not sure whats availible. I have not put on my crash bars yet do I need any spefic brand? Which brands ofer the best protection? I like the ones from twisted throttle. but not completly sold yet. Last thing helmets I have a Noland N103 I love the two piece design and the N-Com system but I must say the wind noise almost left me deaf anyone found a helmet thats quite? Let me end this by saying it was a great day and I can't wait to do it again. A bad day riding is better than a good day at work!! look forward to your feed back. thanks in advance.

I have a really big screen. So buffeting is non existent and wind noise isn't too bad. But I contribute wind noise to the helmet design every bit as much as the screen.

As far passing 18 wheelers on the interstate.........
That's more wind than just the screen is hitting. It's a huge air wave if you could see it with your eyes. I have a technique of dipping my head and shoulder into the wave and loosening my grip on the bars as I pass through it. It probably looks a bit strange to an onlooker. But the bike hardly even moves. It just feels like it slices through.

Do a bunch more of those 200 mile rides. You will find your own methods.

Try wearing earplugs, that will quiet down even a noisy helmet and help with perceived buffeting.

After trying all maner of disposable and reusable rubber earplugs I ended up going with disposable Hearos.

I have the tall screen also and it does adjust! You can remove it and move it up if you need more protection. Also, if you don't have them the side wings might help a bit too.

With my calsci medium height wind screen I can ride down the interstate with
my visor up in cold weather . It does a better job than my HD Road King windshield .
I'm 5'9" with stock seat . It's cheaper than a new helmet but ear plugs would
block the noise .

I also have a calsci medium wind shield and love it. I think the "cutout" keeps it from shaking at higher speed and when around trucks. I also like my GIVI crashbars. Less money than most, but strong mounting. You can also remove the "side cover" with them still on the bike.
