Nothing says romance like going for a backcountry, 2-up, motorcycle ride/picnic with your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day. <heart>
Mrs. Boondocker and I took the scenic byway from the Valley of Fire road to the North Shore road. This is about 30 miles north of Las Vegas. The trail is 27 miles, about half of which is sand/gravel washes with the other half being the rocky ingress and egress to those washes.
I’d rate it easy on a dirt bike, up to moderate on a dual sport, and reasonably challenging on a 600+ lb. ADV bike with rider and passenger. Kudos to my Up-rider, she’s getting good at this. Cheers for the buddy-belt, makes 2-up standing over the rough stuff much more stable.
The Yamaha Super Ténéré acquitted itself well once again, even shod with Conti Trail Attack II’s.
BirdAndHike.com has a descriptive pictorial of the area.

It’s the first time we’d ever been through there.
32 years of marriage and I’m still making romantic propositions. <blush>
