Today I AND a MC mechanic friend dug into check the Valves on my 2014ES with 34,150 miles... yes first check. He did my first check on my 2012 as well. At that time we had to change a few shims. Today SHAZAM!! All were within spec!
All Exhaust valves checked at .009 and all but one intake checked at .004 with the other one being .005.
I wish I had read the Valve adjust thread before as taking off the upper front motor mount would sure have made it easier. As it ended up getting the valve cover gasket to sit properly was the big problem. Rob does NOT use any kind of lub or glue or anything like that to hold the gasket in place. He just doesn't believe in doing that. It took him at least 1 1/2 hours to get it AND he did take the front motor mount plate loose in order to get in there.
Changed plugs. The old showed some wear as they are supposed to be 31 to 35 but all measured about 39 but it looked like they were burning correctly.
We ran out of time so he is coming back tomorrow evening to sync throttle bodies.
Thanks Rob! I probably could have done this but... it would have taken me a LOT LONGER... like days of trial and error and reading this forum. I do all lesser work on my Tenere'. ::008::
