Hi there I'm new to the forum. Just a quick question. Anyone here familiar with the 1980 XS1100 Midnight Special. I inherited one from my roommate. It is way to big for me and was thinking of getting rid of it. I know it is a rare bike. My question is what is the best wat to sell it?

Wow appears to be in very nice condition, a mechanic friend had one many years ago and used to race it on ice, haven’t seen him in many years and wonder if he still has it

That’s a very original bike you got there!

XS1100 FB group might be the easiest. Otherwise Craigslist and Cycle Trader.

Just a FYI, to polish up those black chrome pipes, I use to use the ceramic cooktop cleaner on my FJ1100 that I use to have.

I wouldn't know anything about the sales price... but you should take another pic to offer it. I think you have a problem with the front fork... (unless it's the angle of the pic that makes it seem to me that the bars are bent backwards ).

My ride left me late one Saturday night at a redneck bar. So I got on the back of an 1980 xs11 in with a drunk lawyer. Probably snorted some coke too. Not a very wise choice. I know. Young and dumb. I was desperate. He got wide open and tucked down all os a sudden and the wind blast almost took me out. I barely got hold off his shirt or pants. When we stopped. If he would't have been drunk. I would have 4 stroked his ass. Glad I didn't. This guy turned out to be a judge and a DA. Fixed a few tickets for me.

As @Sierra1 mentioned, I picked up a 1980 XS11000 Special a while back and got it going. While I don't have it anymore, I sold it to one of my good friends locally so I'm still involved in making sure it's well taken care of. Your Midnight Special is the same bike with some cosmetic upgrades, I think it's mechanically the same as the Special.

If yours is ready to go, just advertise it on all the places you can. I sell on FB Marketplace, OfferUp and CraigsList. Anywhere you sell things these days you're going to have annoying people, scammers, deadbeats, etc. It's been the same forever, just easier for them to work now so you just have to deal with it. I have had good luck selling on all the platforms I listed, but FaceBook seems to get the most views. Also the most attempts at scams, but I get them on everything.

Even though it's sort of a "rare" bike it's not highly collectible or extremely valuable. I have seen absolutely perfect ones advertised at $3k for months and months, not selling. That being said, I would think somewhere in the $2500-$3500 range should be where the bike is priced but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't sell. If it's really clean and runs good, this might be a candidate to list on Bring A Trailer? I don't know how that site works, but it seems like it brings people out of all the corners of the country for stuff like this.

Good luck, I wish I were closer so I could get a look at that 80's beauty!
