Just booked up for the 12,000 mile service on my 2013. The dealer told me they sync the throttle bodies in a different way than they used to which they say smooths things out better. I find the bike (inevitably) a bit vibey after my last bike which was an in line four, and I have no bench mark to compare it to having never had a four stroke twin, so it will be interesting to see if there's any noticeable improvement. I was thinking of the 2014 clutch basket change but it comes out at £500 ish here in the UK and I'm not too keen to dish out that much cash. So I'm hoping the sync will help. I will report back on that next week.

Overall I am very happy with the S10 and as some others have said the bike grows on you ! I have done 6,000 miles so far this summer and really feel I'm getting properly in tune with the bike ::008::

My custom remap (CJS Racing) smoothed my 2011 out noticeably, this was a full remap for fueling and ignition done individually per cylinder, it now seems to idle more cleanly and vibrate a bit less. Of course you will also get a bit more power and lose the restrictions in gears 1 -3.

I am thinking of a clutch basket at some point, but would ship from a US discounter as even after paying import duty and shipping the cost is about half UK prices.

No way to say as I had my clutch basket replaced on my 2012 before the flash, but I can say the Clutch basket knocked down the agonizing vibe right off.
After the flash it transformed my bike to a whole new level and never looked back.
Unless your thinking on buying a new 2014 or 15 and get nothing for your old bike it makes sense to invest a bit more into the old chap and be happy.
 One must face the resale value of these Tenere's are crap.

Ride it till it dies! ;D

Had the service today. Happy to report that the TB Sync definitely made a difference ::008:: Everything feels a little smoother. most noticeable to me is the pick up on the throttle, this is noticeably better. Also the bike feels better on a small amount of throttle such as creeping along in traffic. All in all a definite improvement. Well done Crescent Yamaha ::008::

I wonder what they do differently than the service manual describes. I only see on way in the service manual.
Maybe at 12K, they actually sync them rather then just say they sync them.

I'm not sure exactly but they said also do something with the mixture settings. All I can say is that whatever they did the bike definitely runs better

The Re sale on the Tenere is no worse than any other bike on the market, including the legendary BMW or Harley, do the math. In about five years time they all will have lost around 40 percent.

I bought into that "Harleys hold their value" nonsense myself, about 12 years ago when I bought my Road King. Years later I sold it with 50,000 miles on it, and not only had to compete with all the garage queens that were the same age as mine but only had 5000 miles on them, but also the great financing deals offered by HD for new bikes. That was the first and only time I ever bought a bike with the thought of its resale value as a factor in the purchase. Now, I just buy them because I like them.

I had a weird vibration occurring in my bike recently. After I changed the plugs and did a throttle body synch, it went away. I just did the standard throttle body synch that is described in the service manual; can't imagine what their secret synch process is, unless it just mimics the one that is listed as a sticky on this forum.

I don't think it's a secret...........otherwise they wouldn't have told me about it would they :D

All I am saying is that whatever they did made a difference and I'm happy ::008::

No Problem ::008:: Actually I think you are probably right, it did sound similar to something I read on here on another thread. Or maybe it was some dealer bull, but it has definitely made a difference. If the clutch basket change wasn't so overpriced here in the UK I would go for that too as it also sounds like it makes quite a big difference

On my 12k service the dealer "forgot" to change the plugs, when I noticed they said they would do it for free, took the about 2 1/2 hours (guess that is why they forgot as they had given me a fixed price for labour and parts, I noticed because the bill was low and plugs missing made the difference)

Anyway, what I did notice riding away with the new plugs fitted (a week after the original service) was it felt noticeably smoother, so maybe old plugs do affect running a little

May still go for a discount clutch basket from the US and have it fitted at 24k service next summer.

I was going to do that and my dealer said they won't put anything on unless I buy it from them.
You might ask you dealer before you buy.

No problem, I use a local independent shop, they were Honda / Yamaha franchised back in the 80's but both manufacturers started to weed out small dealers in favour of the huge multi-vendor showrooms.

They are really good, about 40% cheaper than my Yamaha dealer for labour and will do whatever work I want done including fitting bits I supply, of course if they can supply them at a fair price I always buy from them, but they are happy in situations like this where they cannot supply the parts I want at that cost point.

I have been using them for about 25 years now and have bought bikes from them and sold bikes to them in the past. In future I plan to do all the basic service work and get them to do anything I do not want to tackle (like the shim check)

There no one around here like that. I may trailer my S10 over to Jaxon to have him work on it. As much as I like to support local, my dealer is kind of a jerk off. I bought my first and only new bike from him back in 1974 - Suzuki GT 250- you would think he'd do a little something out of his ordinary for a long time customer.
