If you have Altrider crash bars it doesn't stick out farther than those

I use the Mahle filter as well, studs make installing the plate much easier. Especially with Altrider crash bars, you can keep the Altriders bolted down tight and install the plate over the top.

Personally I would compare equal bikes and buy the one better equipped and possibly pay a bit more if it has what I want on it. What sends me looking elsewhere is when people try to sell their used vehicle for XXX dollars more than what it is worth and say "I have 5K in accessories on it" and...
