How many of you do wear protective clothing, because........

::026:: Mesh used to give me a hot spot down my back. My light colored aerostitch darien light gets wind up the sleeves which inflates the jacket. I get a layer of moving air all over my arms and torso. I have put screen windows in my hand guards to get good airflow over my hands. Cover up...

    Super Tenere maintenance

Get the service manual for the S10. It gives you a list of things to do at various mileages and how to do it. Good investment. Use a torque wrench when changing oil. Neophyte mechanics have a tendency to over tighten bolts, which is a sure recipe to strip threads in your oil pan. Check the...

    Engine heat

I now have 62,000 miles on my S10. At that mileage my previous bike, a Suzuki VStrom 1000, had started running warmish because the radiator was pretty well clogged with bugs. The S10, thanks to the side mounted radiator doesn't have that problem (a touch of genius in my opinion). At traffic...

Mounted altrider crash bars and acd skid plate

Replace the engine mount bolts in front with studs. That avoids a royal wrestling match with the crash bars and skid plate each time you change oil. There are many references on this forum.

    Ergo Issues With My Tenere

The winglets channel air downwards, they don't bother my wife at all.

    Brake advice

My first rear rotor wore out along with three sets of pads before 25,000 miles. My second rotor is wearing well (not much) and I'm at 56,000 miles. No change in braking procedure. But I was very careful and thorough in bleeding the brakes. Seems to have made a difference. YMMV

Naked Tenere Walks Into a Bar...

BIG YES on the AltRider crash bars. They work. Saved my plastic once. A little sanding and rattle-can black and you can't tell they worked unless you look real close. I used soft rope to tie them to the handle bars when I was installing them. Kept the weight mostly off my hands/arms when...

    Lift bike by Skide plate??

I have an ACD skid plate installed. I lift my S10 on the skid plate all the time. Great for cleaning, inspection, and tire changing. I have had no problems with this damaging the skid plate. As Checkswrecks says, it's designed for impact loads, which are much higher than the weight of the...
