Apache Trail to Reavis Ranch trail head. Gorgeous winter day in AZ. Rain this week so no dust on the trail.

This was a combination bridge/watercrossing.

My riding buddy and I were just discussing whether we had ever been pulled over when I saw lights in the rear view. Nice Highway Patrolman, dirt bike rider. Talked about where we had been and helmet coms. Let us go with a warning.

Had the opportunity to drive down a roadway that was dirt in dry conditions or mud with standing water in wet, which is what I got to experience. I thought my perception of the conditions was s little amiss but came to the conclusions that 800# on two factory wheels makes for a pretty slick situation. Gravity is not to be mocked. I’ve watched videos of guys struggling with muddy conditions and now I understand why. This is my first heavy bike taken off road. It was uneventful but I had thoughts of if i go down where would be a good place to do it, and could I really pick the bike up!
Prior to this I drove off a curb and was glad for the ground clearance. The other bikes in the running prior to the ST were the goldwing or k1600, don’t think either would have faired as well.

Highly recommend you take some offroad training, it will radically improve your skills and confidence.

No pics but did 100+ miles on Sunday with my friend. It was our first “big” ride in the rain and it went pretty well. My visor kept fogging up despite a pinlock, gloves need to be a little longer to cover my jacket sleeve, and my feet got pretty cold. Other than a few tweaks to gear, I could spend all day out in that sort of weather.

Just like Boris I am that kinda guy, last ride was in the beginning of winter. Lots of rain the last few weeks, so all the roadsalts and brine are gone. Today was the first ride of the season, in an area known to probably none of you. 200km 3,5 hours ride to test the upgraded bike. Last winter I did many upgrades and they work flawlessly. Current “T” mode is up until 50% throttle like a upgraded rain/offroad mode and “S” is all out no restrictions whatsoever. Holy crap what a power can that mighty tractor engine generate!! I used to ride in S all the time because T was too lame. Now I ride T for standard, and have more power at the flick of a switch. S is not for damp/wet conditions anymore combined with the Mitas E-07+.
Did some highway, B-Roads, packed sand trail etc. All what our beautiful province has to offer.

Is it possible that the EU/UK bikes have a different tune? That doesn't make any sense but what you're describing as "now", is what mine has been like from the start. Depending on which road I'm on, I have to be careful how much gas I give it.

I think there is a difference but don’t know which one is the better one. The EU has different demands for vehicles compared to the US, and different then Asia. Don’t you have different demands for California too?
Sometimes we get imported Japanese vehicles that have way different specs too.

Shot of my front yard today and some shots of eagle and hawk watching on salt river and taylorsville lake. Saw a huge eagle out on the road. One adult in the nest and two juveniles flying around. Went down river road to see the hawks but someone busted all the tree line down they stayed in. Not sure where they are now. Nice ride today

Rode the A-Cross road east of Roosevelt Lake. It has been a couple years. The water crossings were all closed last year with the water running high. People have died when vehicles are swept away. They are finishing a bridge that should be done this summer. I was able to cross at Punkin Center.

That's my diagonal track coming out in the last photo.

A-Cross Rd has been on my list the last couple times I've made it back to AZ, but haven't quite made it happen.
Will definitely make it a point on the next one!
