Registration is $53???
Registration for mine for the year (includes 3rd party insurance) on the Tenere was $540.
Although, considering the value of the South Pacific Peso, it’s probably not too different.
When I was stationed in New Hampshire in the late '80s, registration was a couple of hundred dollars. But they don't have a state sales tax, so it kind of works itself out.

No vehicle (motorcycle) inspection here . Road Tax €88. yearly. VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) is €2 per cc up to 350cc + €1. per cc thereafter and also VAT (Value Added TAX) is 23% of total value of vehicle incl. VRT. This is paid by dealer and passed on to buyer. The advertised price of the motorcycle includes these charges. VRT is paid only once by original buyer.

They call it a safety inspection. Brakes, bulbs, tires, and horn. Bikes, diesels, and cars older than 25yrs old are exempt from emissions testing.
I kind of wish they did this across the board in America. Some (okay maybe many) of the vehicles on the road really shouldn’t be on the road. $7 is cheap enough where it isn’t a major burden. Trouble is, even people with working headlights and signals don’t even use them. I often wonder if this is a common issue abroad. We went to Korea last October and everyone just seemed to be more mindful.

nothing done to the tenere today other than run some errands. My wife bought a Honda Grom the other day so I installed adjustable levers on it yesterday and will be teaching her to ride a manual bike tomorrow morning. She currently has a Honda Navi but wanted to learn to ride a more traditional motorcycle. She’s about 5’ so many motorcycles are a bit out of reach for her.

Installed the Arrow exhuast. They make some nice stuff!

So more and more like today riding with the new exhaust, and this might have amplified what I've experienced in the past, the idle rpm is up and down, it is not steady. My impression is a lean idle mixture. I think I'm going to sync the throttle bodies and see if the situation goes away. What is the vote on syncing and eliminating the hunting idle or do I have to go into the ecu and remap. Also I'm aware from a stop it is easy to kill the engine, today right off idle it just died without any clutch engagement.

I been using back packs for years as a tail bag. Used to get them from 7 to 14 dollars and they would last 3 to 4 years and several of them were water resistant. Not any more! 30 to 40 bucks for a back pack that just makes it a year. I was looking for a replacement and thought i would try a tackle box. 38 dollars and i am going to use the trays for electrical connectors and such. 20240203_102006.jpg20240203_102219.jpg

If the spark plugs are with their corresponding clearance, if not there is a cracked vacuum hose...part of the blame for the unstable idle must be placed on the oxygen sensors. The correction of the idle speed of the “now” revolution….is a product of the calculation of the oxygen ratio of the “previous” revolution….and this is how the average is made….take a look at the video and see how the engine rpm oscillates. and oxygen correction it’s done, in a V8 engine at idle. When you accelerate, the oxygen sensor circuit stops working. Try accelerating the motorcycle engine and leaving it at higher revs than idle, and you will see that it remains stable.

I kind of understand what you are saying there. I am of the impression the engine is playing catch up with itself because of the lean afr at idle, and possibly the throttle bodies not being in sync. If I could adjust it I would set it to around 13.5 and that would give a steady idle and good off idle character. It is a new bike with less than 2000 miles so I doubt the plug gap is too much or there is a crack in a vacuum line, but that is a possibility.

If your bike is a 1st gen model, there is a recall out there for the ECU harness that addresses the unstable idle issue. If the recall has been performed already or your bike is a 2nd gen and there are no vacuum leaks, it does sound like it’s running lean and should probably be reflashed.

I’ve done Isle of Man when the races have been on (an absolute MUST do) AB’s the next time was Scotland up to Skye.
In Scotland, you just wear your wets all the time because it’s ALWAYS going to rain
I find the best time to go to the Highlands is 2nd week in May. Which is after the 6 Days Trial Event although i have been an caught the end of it and its great.

Picked the bike up from the garage. Shims and new CCT done , feels great , quieter and smooth. Conti TA3 tyres on as well. Bucketed down with rain for the 15 min ride home. Tyres feel good , new tyres and cold rain ain’t a great recipe but they actually felt very confidence inspiring , bring on some decent weather please !
You dont need to worry so much with new tyres now as there is so much silica in them. Always good to be careful though.

Don’t forget that you can adjust the air fuel mixture through the panel. Well, you can on the gen 1. Not sure about gen 2.

I removed the rox risers so I could take a drive today since the hose extensions haven't arrived yet for install. Felt good to be back in the saddle. Midwinter and 64f degrees is so nice. I did notice with the risers there is more movement in the handlebars because of the rubber dampers in the top tree. I wonder if that equates to less felt vibration if anyone has noticed the difference.
You can ditch the risers and hoses……get some long finger gloves:cool:

The weather was extra crapy here in Colorado, so I spent the day learning how to rebuild the fork on my 2014 ES.

One of the forks didn't want to come out, but a few blows from a soft mallet got it moving.

I'm glad I bought the specialty ES spring compressor tool; it made working with the springs easy. It looks like the bushings were ready to be replaced.

All buttoned up and fingers crossed, I put it back together perfectly. :p
