Hi
I have a 2020 Tenere 1200 with Ohlins front and back and a hole host of extras, including Dyna tuned and Akrapovic exhaust, just wondered has anybody ridden a tiger and is it worth considering as an alternative or is really not worth it
Thanks
Tony

I have a tiger 1200 GTX and S10. No comparison for me. It has a killer engine and semi active suspension. It is a lot easier to push around or pick up after a nap even when it has 8 gallons of fuel. I don’t ride my beloved S10 much anymore. Quick shifter is a really cool feature. My Madstad bracket and 22” windshield with winglets gives my S10 a lot better wind protection in cold weather

Is your Tiger 1200 reliable and how is the dealer network been in MS for you.

I have a local riding buddy who has been hunting down a Tiger 1200 for a while and I may be going a state away this weekend to grab one. I have gone with him to look at a few of the big and little Tigers as lightly used bikes, and all but one of them (out of five samples) had at least one dash warning light on. You'd really want to have a good working relationship with a competent dealership to own one of these I suspect, otherwise the electronics might drive you nuts.

I was on the verge of buying a '23 1200 Tiger Rally Pro a few months back. Dealers were selling leftover 2023s for $4-6k off MSRP. At that price, I don't think you could go wrong. Ride it for 2.5 years, then sell it with 6mo of factory warranty left for about what you paid for it. Performance-wise, the 1200 Tiger crushes the Super Tenere on every metric I can think of; honestly, It's better than a BMW 1250 GS, and the Ducati Multistrada Rally. Given the current Tiger 1200 has only been on the market since 2021, I don't think reliability is truly known, but I think you could safely assume that a Yamaha will be vastly more reliable.

I bought a Super Tenere instead because, financially, it was the right move. The Super Tenere does everything I wanted from a big ADV, and I have no regrets, but If I had more disposable cash lying around, I would have bought the Tiger.

Please use the existing thread: https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/triumph-tiger-1200-gen4-2022.33427/

But to directly answer your question and lock this one:
I've ridden a friends 2019 a bit then bought and quickly sold a 2023 Tiger 12 GTPro.
Absolutely totally different bikes as the 2019 is no slouch but a big heavy sled compared to the 2022+.

That said and while it is the perfect bike for some, I grew to quickly hate the GTPro. Even though it was not as tall as the Explorers I couldn't comfortably ride gravel because I always had to mount the tall thing like a horse. Needing to come to a complete stop to dig through the menus to disable the traction control for gravel was bullshit since we go between asphalt and gravel constantly here. We do a lot of 2-up and she sat so high that every move she made was amplified. But the worst part was that the dealer and I were never able to figure out why it stalled so much that I grew to not trust the bike when leaving a stop.
