I wonder what percentage of health care workers are unvaccinated? Locally our medical practices and Hospital claim > 90% of employees are vaccinated. Those unvaccinated have legitimate medical/religious reasons and are allegedly mostly in non-patient facing capacities.

Most of the news reports about HC workers not being vaccinated usually don’t state a percentage, just raw numbers which are harder to interpret.

I wound up getting a booster yesterday, since I just saw my first (potential) request from a client. For those following along, I got the J&J one shot back in March and I'm pretty sure I got COVID at the end of June. My booster shot was the Moderna one, and the only issue I have so far is about 12 hours after the shot, my shoulder became very sore. My guess is this will persist for another 12 hours or so (its been nearly 12 hours since my shot as I type this).

You're a better judge of yourself. (obviously) But, it seems to be a very person to person thing with reactions to the vaccine. Many people don't feel a thing. Others, like my wife, are hammered. And, according to the pharmacist, efficacy has nothing to do with a person's reaction. But, your reaction is your body's immune system waking up. If I don't feel it waking up . . . . is it really waking up? And you've mixed yours, so I'm interested in the difference in your body's reaction. Keep the ibuprofen close by.

All three of mine were Moderna. First shot--nothing. Second shot--uncomfortable aches for a day, easily controlled with ibuprofen. Third shot + flu shot--very mild aches, but for three days. The flu shot could have had something to do with it.

I got the high dose quadravalent flu shot separately from my Moderna booster. I had a bigger reaction to the flu shot than the booster for covid. Mostly just a sore arm for a couple days but not even that with the Moderna boost.

got my moderna booster today. Zero side effects so far. If I wouldn't have had picture of my card. Wally World wasn't gonna give me one. There was a 20 yr old girl getting her first one. She said she was only getting it because someone was paying here $100. She was antivax to the bone though.

I find it interesting that those advocating for freedom of choice whether or not to get the vax are considered "anti-vaxxers".

I am staunchly pro-vax and think everybody should consider getting the vaccine after educating themselves on the pros/cons and talking to their doctors.

I am also vehemently pro-choice and believe that nobody (government, employer, public opinion, etc.) should force a person to take it against their will.

So, even though I am pro-vax I'm also anti-vax?

Nope, that's called pro-choice. A lot of my friends are surprised to hear that I'm "fully vaccinated". I tell them I didn't get vaccinated 'cuz I was told to, I did it because I have at least half a brain. Which in turn starts a totally different debate.

Gee, way to stand by her principals. We have those "incentives" going on around here too. Pisses me off. Do the right thing, and that's your only reward. Piss & moan . . . . and get rewarded.

I saw on the local news, that the J & J vaccine is no longer recommended due to the rare possibility of blood clots. It was reported that there's no reason to risk using the J & J since the Pfizer, and Moderna vaccine are readily available. At least in the US

Just got my Moderna booster. I'm sort of hoping for the sleepy side effects I had with the second dose. Been working a lot and could use some extra sleep this weekend. But not too much. Even though we're in the 20s and low 30s (F), I'm thinking of getting the bike out of it's winter slumber to go ride in the sunshine we're going to have for the next week.

I’ve had all three Pfizer shots and the flu shot and then the pneumococcal, meningococcal A and meningococcal B shots. The meningococcal A shot was the only one that gave me any reaction at all. It put me in bed for a day.

The rate was reported at 100,000 doses or 0.001%. Still almost nil risk but with the others plentiful now, why bother with the J&J? It was never as effective anyway.

No. The reason J&J and there Chinese vaccines are no longer recommended is because they have been found to do very little for Omicron and that's getting to be the main threat. The more people get J&J means the more people who are essentially unvaccinated, longer this lasts, and more variants there will be.

Surprise!! Media putting out incorrect data/facts. What you say makes sense, but was not mentioned at all. Opinion: booster shots are going to be in our future for a long time.

When "they" said that Omicron was similar to the "common cold", and the cold is also a SARS virus, it got me to thinking. Flu shots are a crap shoot. Each year doctors/scientists roll the dice to determine which strains to make the shot for. Pick the right strains . . . . works like a charm. Pick the wrong ones . . . . it's a bad flu year. Last year, two flu strains were eliminated. I am assuming due to the extra precautions people were taking to prevent covid, and covid is more contagious than the flu. The "common cold" has never been cured since there are so many strains/mutations/variations. It's also common to develop bronchitis from the cold. A shot for the cold is possible . . . . if they knew which variation it was.

So, yeah, it's here to stay. I'm also afraid that the boosters we get from here on out are also going to be a roll of the dice. If Omicron can get around the current vaccine . . . . and more strains are bound to happen . . . . the future is going to require additional vaccines for different strains. :(
