Nowadays I visit quite rarely on this forum but coincidentally I came here today and noticed the latest post.
Unfortunatelly I must tell that the problem has not been solved totally.
Over 20000 km went well but last summer I got once over...
1. Bend is CR Mid with stock brake lines. The Pro Taper handlebar and Rox Risers I purchased a week ago from USA.
2. Grips are a little harder than stocks and they are Daytonas (sold by KTM? in USA)
I didn't use any primer or anything else, just cleaned painted/lacquered surfaces with break cleaner and plastics with xylene.
Without primer or edge sealer it's easy to take the film off just by warming it.
On tight bendings it might be good to use primer on plastic surfaces but NOT on...
Is your bike new?
If not the reason may be loosen spokes too.
I got just same feelings on low speeds when I had loosen spokes.
I tightened the spokes and problem disappeared.
Edit: Sorry, the answer had come just before I sent the reply.
I got about 7,400 miles on my PR3 rear, quite hard riding and mostly 2-up with full panniers.
The original Tourance Exp ran about 4,400 miles.
So I think that you can ride your trip and after that you will still have plenty of tread left.
But check the tire pressure and fill a little more than...

Ho ho ho snakebitten, I said only 'a little'.
Otherwise I really like my bike and especially it's handling and balance.
And now I don't see any other better choise.
But it's not as reliable as my earlier Suzuki and Honda.
