Looks like Ouray (town they came through in the end) area of Colorado, back country trails up to the higher passes... Imogene, Engineer/Cinnamon. Surrounded by Telluride, Silverton, Ridgway, Dallas Divide.
With winter setting in, I'm sure there are folks who have been thinking of selling their bikes and unfortunately see another six months storage in their garage.
I'm still looking for one that meets my criteria and price! ;)
Still looking for the right bike at the right price. For the record, I offered prices to two out of state sellers only to watch both of them say they they wanted 'their' price... only to watch them both sell for a lower price. That's why I'm taking my time being patient for the right bike.
Vickery is not far from my house and I know the guys well there. They're good folks!
Honestly, I want to buy a low mileage, uber-farkled, well maintained and mint S10!
Still here and ready to buy, was out-of-town (and off the grid) when the recent Texas/loaded S10 was offered for sale.
That's the type of bike I'm looking for. ::003::
If I were going to do the trip you mentioned this is what I'd do. I've been climbing here in Colorado (and the West) for almost forty years and have traversed on many of the roads here.
Take the road from Santa Fe up through Taos into Colorado. At Ft. Garland head west and take Hwy 17 north to...
I don't see any cotton in the socks you posted about. That's good! You have a combo of nylon, poly and Merino wool. That'll work. Very expensive though. ;)
Like I said... no cotton for me!
Merino wool... absolutely NO cotton! Bridgedale, Smartwool, Thorlo, even Costco's Merino Wool four pack sold in the cold months.
In the cooler months, I wear super thin Fox River X-Static liners with my Bridgedale Trekker (medium weight) socks.
The same combo I wear with my mountaineering...
If you bought an S10 and things have not quite worked out, and you'd like to sell your bike, let me know and we'll take it from there.
Looking for a mint bike and an absolutely clear title. In state Colorado preferred.
Let me know via PM what you have available.

Thank you Bill for your articulate explanation! Makes total sense. Good to hear. I'm going to just sit back, smile and have a beer and watch the game(s). ::003:: ::26::
