As the above posts suggest, rust and corrosion, potentially making plug changes and coil removal difficult. Pre fender extender I had signs of rust, nothing serious but definitely there. If you do regular plug changes and checks, it’s unlikely to ever be an issue. I never had any poor running issues though with water ingress.Just out of curiosity: what happens when water gets in there?
Both of my TDMs dislike the rain & start running on one piston with the other cutting in & out & sometimes shutting down completely.
I’ve sealed plug connections all over the place but not there…
Since fitting the extender I’ve had no signs whatsoever of water ingress, and I’ve been to Scotland three times since fitting it (among many other places).
