It is literally the S10 ES with parts of the accessory catalog slapped on. I should know, I have one. The "Raid Pack" consists of the aluminium cases, the fog lights, a taller touring windscreen, the wind deflectors, the belly pan with side protectors and the carbon fibre side panels.
Allow me.........
I bought the second Super Tenere available in Belgium in 2011. Just the standard model. I farkled the heck out of it, after 3 years we started looking for a house and I just couldn't justify having such an expensive bike in the garage at the same time. So I sold it.
Build a house in 2015-2016, and it's finally 'done' (are they ever done?). Anyway. I've been religiously avoiding anything related to motorcycles in order to not get bitten by the virus again. Big surprise when my wife told me out of the blue that she wanted to learn how to ride. After her first few lessons it became obvious it wasn't just a passing fling, and I caved.
I kept meticulous records of every mod, farkle and accessory I got for my S10. I knew what worked, and what didn't. So I knew what I wanted.
Walked into the dealer and towards the S10's. Wanted the electronic suspension, so it was going to be either the ES or the ES Raid Edition. I got a pretty good price on the basic ES model. Then I started looking around to add some bits that I wanted (cases, belly pan, bigger screen, wind deflectors,...) and the price came pretty close to the Raid Edition. And I didn't really want to have to order from 10 different places, waiting on deliveries, figuring out that I need some extra bits to mount a pannier or stuff like that.
As I talked to the dealer about the Raid Edition, he knocked 2000EUR's off the base price. Without asking. And still they were *really* willing to make the sale happen. It got to the point that I was just throwing things out there and the guy kept accepting. ...
"I would also like that brand new TomTom 550 GPS, but it's 399EUR's, that's a bit steep considering the bike is already so expensive"
-Oh we can write that up too.....
"Yeah but people steal those, Touratech makes a locking mount I think........"
-Ok so the GPS with the Touratech locking mount
"Also it's a big old bike, Touratech makes a sidestand extender plate I saw"
-Oh yeah you got to have that, we'll order that aswell.
"Well the only thing missing is crashbars, I like the SW Motech ones"
-We can order those for you and mount them, no charge
"I also had a SW Motech QuickLock Daypack tank bag on my last S10
-*writes down tank bag*
"They also do mirror extenders because I like to see behind me and not just my elbows"
-Ok
"And here on your ordering form there's a box for a full tank"
-*Ticks box*
"Also it sais delivery charge???
-Oh no we won't charge that
"Do I still have to get the first oil change after 1000km's? I remember it was 97EUR's with my first bike, is that still a thing?"
-Yeah but I'll include a voucher for the first service....
"My license plate will arrive directly here from the Vehicle Registration Office, there's a charge there that I'm supposed to pay when I pick up the bike, but....
-We can cover that charge...
Anyway I ran out of things I wanted so I asked him the total, he told me and then without asking rounded it down to an even number.
Didn't need to think it over knowing what my spreadsheet said (buying all the stuff separately myself and mounting it on an ES would have been way more expensive!)
Signed and paid, bike was ready 5 days later. No waiting on extra stuff, no chafing of the knuckles, swearing and round off bolts trying to install things myself, just get on and go. The only thing I had to change afterwards was the windshield, I'm 2.03m or 6ft6in so I did need a screen taller then the Touring Screen of the Raid Editon, and a spoiler. Managed to sell all the extra bits the bike came with for a nice price aswell. (stuff like the standard low screen, touring screen, plastic belly pan, sticker set, tank bag, stock crash pads,....)
I'm happy. Is it the best deal ever? No, the best deal would be getting a '14 or later model second hand with most of the accessories also mounted. But I wanted to treat myself, so I did!
