Dear friends,

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did search before asking but I was only able to find threads about benefits and specific part numbers.

I keep reading that this is a "300-400 bucks upgrade", but as far as I can see the basket alone costs almost 700 bucks on Stadium Yamaha.
Was thinking about changing the the basket at the same time that I go in to swap the old discs out but I am hoping it won't be 1000 USD just in parts

Thanks a lot.

I got mine from web bike Japan but keep in mind it “does not come with any clutch plates”
Any recommendations on plates?
most people on here depends on mileage mind i mean very high mileage most people pull the gen 1 plates out and fit them straight into the gen 2 basket straight swop only change the basket

Agree with Rob here. Changed my basket 40k miles ago, still on the original metal and fibre plates. Clutch works fine.

what is your experience so far with the clutch basket from japan webike (shipping/quality/fit)
Is there anything else I should pay attention to?

I haven’t got around to installing it yet but it is an OEM Yamaha product. It took 2 weeks to get here but all parts are OEM and it was way cheaper.

First of all, thank you for your quick response.
Then I have to wait a little while until you have installed it and driven it.
And maybe you can report your findings here.

But maybe there is someone else on the Forum who has already tested this product on the bike.

I have been gathering parts while I work in the garden for spring so I’ll be installing everything over the next few weeks.

My 2013 Tenere had a very noticeable bad vibration at 3K rpm. I replaced the clutch basket and the vibration was gone. It made a huge difference. I also installed a Barnett pressure plate while I was at it. You don't realize just how bad the clutch release is until you get rid of the stock conical spring pressure plate and put in a standard multiple spring pressure plate.

I have sent a PM reply to Mr Dutch, however just for anyone else interested, my 2013 clutch was horrendous, gradually worsening over the first couple of years of ownership. I upgraded to a gen2 basket and the improvement was night and day. Smoother, quieter, far less vibey and the revs seemed to pick up quicker. The overall improvement was vast! Almost 40k miles later, all remains good.

Note, I only changed the basket, which I purchased from a Yamaha dealer in the UK. I still weep occasionally over the cost.
