Hey guys.. I had the factory side case hardware installed at a local Yamaha dealership but didn't have the cases with me at the time of install. So I get back to the house ready to put the cases on and they don't fit. I'm wondering if any of you have been through this and could possibly tell me what I'm doing wrong by looking at my setup. Here are a few pics.. any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

It looks to me as though the mounting kit is installed correctly, as near as I can tell from the pics. I did get a little vertigo though. You might see if you can turn all the pics right side up! :)

Have you watched the video on case operation?

Be sure you have the mounting mechanism opened before trying to mount the case. The handle at the rear must be extended and the handle at the front must out and twisted.

Ha, sorry about that.. what happens is that when the case is sitting properly on the mounting bar... the rubber foot placement peg thing doesn't really come close. Is it possible that the pieces that mount on the passengers foot pegs are backwards? I've watched the video and am sure I have the mechanism open and ready to mount.. (that's what she said)

Think your mounts are on wrong side. See pic. the square keper at top should be at front apex of grab handle. In your pic doesnt look that way.

You'll need a torx/star T-50 Security type bit or wrench.
I didn't have the T50 anti-theft bit when I installed my cases but I used vise grips and a rag and it worked fine, no deep gouges in bolt head. I do have the proper bit now. (there were a few scratches in the first one)

Dremel grinder on the center pin works too. no need for a special bit. If someone is going to take my bike apart to get a bag they can have it.

Yep, the mounts are swapped, side-to-side. If you don't have the install instructions, I'd get them - there are lots of little spacers/washers and it is not intuitively obvious exactly how they go.

I just realized that I previously had scanned the install instructions and posted up a link on another thread. If you haven't get a copy yet, here they are.

Something I learned a long time ago was that after a dealer installs accessories (among other things), I always go check to make sure they are tight and fitted well. Sometimes you just don't know if it is the scooter guy doing some of the work because he was slow.... ;)

Thanks to those who have posted in this thread. ::008::
My cases were hard to get on and off and the left side was hitting the muffler shield when installed. Whom ever put my brackets on had them reversed and now they go on easy and I've got lots of clearance.
Here's the before pic...

I made the same mistake when I installed mine. As soon as I noticed the top tab on the rail and the lower foot peg could no be aligned correctly I realized what I'd done!
