Any help would be greatly appreciated. Purchased new 2016 ES last week. OEM side case mounting in progress. Instructions say to remove the right side passenger peg mount to install the pannier mounting brackets... There is no mention of the ES system cylinder that is also mounted directly in the holes that are supposed to be used for the pannier hardware mounting brackets?? Not sure how to proceed from here as I do not want to start tearing apart the ES system on a new bike with 250 miles on it!

Any advice or padt experience to share on how to install these on the ES would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Howard

I have installed two sets of OEM Side Cases and the first time I also did not understand.

What they are referring to is part of the bracket mounts to the BACKSIDE of the rear foot peg bracket. You need to remove the rear foot peg bracket to install the Side Case Bracket. No big deal. Take your time and look at the drawings. Maybe there is a YouTube video showing you how to do this.

There's no difference between the ES and the non-ES with respect to the way the OEM bags mount.

Then what do you do where the instructions call for mounting the side case hardware in the same location on the backside of the right side passenger footpeg bracket? There is a hydraulic cylinder mounted in the location on the ES. The instructions do not address that or any alternative mounting schemes for mouting the brackets with the ES hydraulics mounted in the same location?

I didn't have mess with, disturb or remount that cylinder. The instructions were generic to both versions. No problem at all.

Yamaha will be changing the instructions to accommodate mounting on the ES. Yes it does work, but on the right passenger foot peg mount, you have to remove the center hex bolt holding the reservoir cylinder to the bracket mounted on the backside of the foot peg bracket. Once you do that, the cylinder drops & the foot peg & mounting bracket can be removed.

"Technically" there is no difference between the two. ::024:: That being said, in the real world, you do have to "finesse" the mounting pieces. Just make sure you tighten everything back; I almost missed one of the bolts that I had loosened.
