Went down to the Dragon last weekend

Couple of friends and I took a little trip down to GA last weekend, via US129. It was my third time there, the first time for them. We decided next year we are going to get a place in Gatlinburg and spend 3-4 days riding around the area. We spent too much time at the Dragon, so didn't get to other roads in the area I wanted to. Took my wife for a ride on the Dragon too, she loved it. Except when I decided to drag the skidplate...I got poked in the ribs when I did that

Nice pics.! Buddies & I are geared up and heading the way (first time going east) Tuesday evening. Meeting in Jasper, TN at camp Wednesday afternoon. Thursday we start our 9 day adventure through TN & NC mountains. SOOOOO Ready to head out!

Sooo many good roads in that area. Make sure to hit the Cherohala Skyway and Devils Triangle too. Whatever you do, stay away from Cades Cove Loop.

Nice pics. Love the Dragon. Never over-rated despite all the hype.
I imagine that the warning about Cades Cove is regarding the crowds. Awful. However, it is a way to some good short shots of gravel: Rich Mtn and Parsons Branch. The latter is a must and dumps you out mid-way on the Dragon (it is also only one-way, so you can't go the other direction).

Check out Highway 60 heading north out of Suches, GA. Great curves without the crowds.

Be careful dragging skid plates on the Dragon. Another Tenere got balled up in bad wreck for doing just that - albeit with a different skid plate.

Don't forget Rd. 32. Probably the best twisty around there, but don't tell anyone, it still seems to be "unknown".

Ouch. Cool picture though.

The warning about Cades cove is because of the crowds and being one way. I got stuck on it a couple years ago in August. Average speed of about 6mph for the length of it.

Just did Parsons Branch last Tuesday. Worth the Cades Cove traffic. Now Oct. will be a different story.
